Back in the day, I had a '75 Cutlass Supreme.
Handled like a barge in a hurricane, but I loved every minute.

My grandfather worked for GM and owned Pontiac Bonnevilles for as long as I can remember. He had a 77 Green 4 door. It's the first car of his I remember. We were on our way somewhere (like 6 of us), and got plowed into by a guy in an AMC Gremlin. They guy bolted. Grandpa chased him down. That 400 moved. lol

the pontiacs seems to becoming few and far between. lots of work ahead of me but i have an eye on a few more beaumonts that can gladly take up someone elses space. As space is becoming less of a comodity.

all welding has been finished and frame was treated to few coats of POR15. Holley oil pan and trans mount showed up. going to test fit into chassis before body goes down

Not too long after i took this photo of my kids hanging out with me in the garage i made a large working on the car.

Made the decision to replace the body mounts by rear wheel well as they were looking a bit crusty. Took my time to be safe under neath with welding blankets and appropriate clothing but forgot about what I had in the trunk.............................

Moving blanket was keeping the control arms from being beat around until installed but they suffered some heat damage on lower bushing. That DAMN BEAR went up like a christmas tree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I smelled burning but thought it was hair as a samll spark burned by head as i laid on my back. Then looked up and saw smoke rolling out the rear window. Again I was trying to be safe as possible with a 20lb dry chem extinguisher close by and stuck it into the rear tail light filling it up. The fire went out quick but damage the major was done

Looking near the driver wheel well is the small hole where a piece of slag must have bust through. Couldnt believe what had happened! The entire city burned down last May, car survived , was painted and finally making some real headway until..................... But all things positive nobody else was in garage, damage is isolated to the trunk and deck and everything can always be a lot worse.

Onward and Upward to keep it going wrangled a few buddys into getting damn thing onto the chassis

That's the pits! Hopefully the deck lid is salvageable and will just need a little repair and paint.

Good thing you had the safety and foresight to have an extinguisher on hand!
Glad no more, or nobody, was hurt.
