      1965 Pontiac Beaumont

So I trailered home a new project this fall. 1965 Pontiac Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe. Original 6cyl, 2spd car with 25000 original miles and hasn't been on the road for over 30 years. After 2 years of asking my neighbour finally let it out of his storage container and we moved it into my garage. It was in storage for 15 years and before that was in the 2nd owners garage for 10years. Quarter panels were brazed on and front lower fenders were patched in the 80's. Probably would have been finished but the frame rot was too much for him and decided to move on. So here I go at my first attempt into the car world.

2004 5.3 , Comp Cam XFI XER 224/224, comp springs, pushrods, TSP polished intake,TSP fuel rails, TSP mounts, 4L60E w/2500 stall.

Not decided on rear diff yet, but frame will be boxed and squared and the rest will fall into place.

Other big decision is mini tub frame or not. It's marked our but will make that call once frame is boxed.

A lot more pics to follow

A lot of care was taken when disassembling car. When I recieved it all trim, screws, fasteners and pieces were bagged and sorted. Chrome was separated and kept clean. Overall beyond thrilled with the attention someone took

Nice score, I love the Beaumonts, makes the Chevy guys stop, stare and wonder why you put Pontiac parts on a Malibu!

Being that it was a 6 cylinder car the initial numbers show only 351 produced. Waiting on GM documentation paperwork. It's not going to change any plans but will be nice to know a bit more of the history.

Haha! Yes, although rare a 2 speed 6 cylinder would be too much to live with.

That was terrible with pictures sideway. Going to upload them again correctly and add a bunch more. There has been a slight change of plans and the body is headed in to get a color change and hopefully done right!!!

Looks like you're planning to mini tub it.. I have the ABC instructions if you do. Even if you make your own stuff it might be helpful.

That would be great. I have looked at the ABC instructions on their page but am still on the fence about committing to the mini tub. So far there seems to be conflicting numbers on tire size that will fit with stock frame/wheel wel, wider wheel well and the mini tub and wheel well combo. Now is the time to cut and weld frame but not to crazy about cutting truck yet.

Before we could load up car the 1952 pick up had to be moved. Original engine/trans and 6 volt.

The trunk trim and tail lights are almost perfect. Should shine right up without too much effort. There is one broken tab but plan to use a bit of urethane when re installing. Undecided about trying to repaint the black inside the fins.

After taking about old matting this is the extent of the floor repair needed. Just started to complete the patches which is going well since all the cross members are good to go. The only one that needs attention is where the body mount attaches near wheel well in the trunk. That being said I will be able to build each piece without buying panels.

Drivers and Passenger side rails are rusted through on the bottom and a small piece on cross member. Paint marks are trying to decide how much to cut back into and fish plate inside. Being that rails will be boxed with 3/16 still havent decided. A lot of different opinions on the issue, but plan to bend 1.75 DOM similar to HPI chassis brace kit.

That pontiac will have the guys down south a bit puzzled.I used the frame kit from Hellwig and it kind of copy's the art Morisson frame rail for profile. It wasn't anything that you couldn't copy yourself but for the price a year ago I couldn't resist.Im just about done with the chassis on my 65 Gto and wanted to ask if your car has been repainted or is it original on the door jams.I cant seem to find any info on if the vin plate was painted body colour or if it was left bare.I took mine off when I had the body dipped to strip it and I don't know if I should install it in paintedafter I paint the door jams or intsall it and then paint it and the jams together
