Best Option for '69 Chevelle Steering Feel?

So Ive done some searching and some reading and more searching and reading. Currently, the steering feel is little less than desirable. When making right turns, the reaction is instant. When making left turns, I have to turn the wheel more before the steering starts to react. I suspect there's a couple of reasons for this. So after reading and searching Im think the following couple of things are probably the best way to tighten up the steering?

- Replace unknown power steering box with "Jeep Box". Ive been told the current box is from "a camaro". All I know is I can turn the car with my pinky and if I come hard into a sharp turn and dont have the RPMs up the car almost dies.
- Replace the tie rods



What else should I be looking at? Or what other better alternatives are there?
