      Another rusty C10 build

I'm pretty active on 67-72chevytrucks but like the performance oriented tech side of this board. While I've been lurking on this site for a while so I guess its time to share my build for those who care. Its not going to be a nice as a lot of rides I see on here, but should be a fun truck to drive. I will warn you I'm very slow on progress and change my mind with the wind. Well here goes:

      Currently:

      Truck: 1967 C10 Short Stepper
      Drivetrain: 250 I-6/3-spd manual
Suspension: Drop Spindles, Rear Drop Springs and Blocks, Front cut stock springs
      Brakes/Rearend: 1972 5-lug, front discs, factory 12-bolt
      Body: Red and Rust

      Winter 2014 Plans:

Drivetrain: 50k mile LQ4/4L80e w/cam, stall and supporting mods
Suspension: Porterbuilt Stage 1 Front and Stage 2 Rear air ride
Rearend: Posi Unit and new gears (more than likely 3.73s)
Body: Stick with Red and Rust and add my Grandpa's old trucking company logo on the doors
Fuel: Boyd Welding tank under the bed
Cooling: 4-Core Big Block Truck Radiator w/Electric Fan
Interior: Recover Buddy Buckets, High Hump Trans Tunnel

      Still need:
Air Management (more than likely Accuair e-Level)
Gauges (leaning towards Dakota Digital VHX)
Stall, valvetrain upgrades, oil pan, and headers
      Rearend components
No Limit Swaybars (definite front, maybe rear)
Swap KYB shocks for ridetech HQs (if budget allows)

Future (we will see if any of this happens)
Porterbuilt front Dropmember, Rack and Pinion, and Control Arms
      Wilwood 4-wheel Disc Brakes
      Billet Wheels
      Turbo
      Paint and Body

      Well on to some pics:

What the truck looks like now:

      Cool. Couple of things.

      1) I use the ridetech HQs and love them.

      2) For the amount of effort you are going through, buy proper springs.

Otherwise, have at it. Your gonna love LS power.

      Thanks all.

I've already got Air Lift Dominator 2600 air bags, they came with my Porterbuilt kit. Most C10 guys run them and really like them.

A few updates. I move at a snails pace due to little time out in the garage and I'm pretty green to most of the work being performed. I'm definitely not scared to learn and enjoying the process.

      Tore the truck apart:

Started mocking up the rear suspension:

      Before

Porterbuilt rear frame crossmembers installed and layed out the tank and air compressor mount

      C-notches installed

Current look of the back of the truck

I've still be doing a lot of reading, making decisions, and collecting parts. I picked up all of my valvetrain, currently leaning towards swapping the 317s for a set of 799/243s, and changing cams to either a BTR Stage 3 or 4 cam. I also bit the bullet and ordered a Porterbuilt Mild Front Dropmember, Tubular Control Arms, and Rack & Pinion steering kit. Should be here in the next 7-9 weeks.

Shot of valvetrain stuff (boring pic)

Also picked up a cool vintage cooler for throwing in the back of the truck

Well summer is starting to wind down and its almost time to get back to working on the truck. Been collecting parts, but unfortunately still have more to acquire. Next on the list is as follows: T56, Brakes, Air Management, RT HQ Shocks. That should hopefully conclude the chassis.

Some goodies sitting in the garage waiting to go on the truck:

Full Porterbuilt Level 1 front end with R&P and control arms

Porterbuilt tubular trailing arms and longer trac-bar

243 heads. Going to clean these up a bit, mill, and install my BTR valvtrain

Well been doing a little bit of work and a whole lot of spending money.

Got the engine and transmission out of the corner of the garage. Engine is on the stand, halfway torn apart, and the transmission is with its new owner.

I sold the 4L80e to make room for this guy: T56 Magnum

Drove up to Jasper the other day and picked up these beauties

And Summit delivered this along with a new oil pan gasket

The boat goes in storage in two weeks and then its hopefully time to really start making headway on the chassis.

Nice truck. It's got good patina. You've got some sweet parts going on it.

love the patina. the look works really well as long as the panels are all the same color. Nice plan and collection of parts. should come together nicely I'll be watching this one.

Well I'll post up a quick update. Things move very slow in my world as there never seems to be enough time to do it all. Pulled everything off the front and started working on the front dropmember. I've got half of that installed right now. I also went ahead and ordered the Porterbuilt Inner Frame Stiffener. Well it arrived yesterday. Now I hope to make some major headway as I've got everything I need to mock up the chassis.
