      Ridetech Tru Turn Upgrade Package

      Any experience ?
This upgrade is useful just for stock power steering or also for rack and pinion ?
Installing this upgrade on a stock power steering I can avoid to substitute it with a rack and pinion to have a better steering/handle ?

      Thanks

Its designed for stock steering systems and will not work with Rack and Pinion, the Tru-Turn eliminates bump-steer, (1) the tall spindle that comes with the system it help the camber curve and gives you better handling (2) has shorter steering arms to increase steering ratio and allow a wider front rim and relocates the steering pivot higher (part one of the bumpsteer system) (3) the center link locates the inner tie rods to the correct pivot point to reduce bumpsteer (part two of the bumpsteer system) (4) Tie rod assemblies with billet adjuster sleeves and Hiem joints (the third part of the bump-steer system)

So, with the Tru Turn the car will handle better than a rack and pinion ?

might not handle significantly better than a well dialed-in rack system but it's a great alternative to all the changes you might have to make to do a rack in some chassis setups. My Camaro is a pita to do a rack on but the ride tech will pretty much bolt right in with no welding, etc. It's all in what you feel best with.

the problem with adapting a rack to an early frame is in the packaging......if you look at a corvette chassis c4-c5-c6-whatever the rack sits as high as the middle of the front dampener pulley..... because that was the area needed to match the control arms pivot points, so on a camaro (rear steer 67-69) the rack would have to be so high, you would have to notch the pan all the way to the crank, to get the pivots points lined up....so they mount it low and some give you steering arms that almost make up for the arm inclinations, but now the racks arms are at such a weird angle they have to limit steering movement as not to bind the ball joints,..... so the cars still have noticeable bump steer, and less steering radius, I have seen some claim they don't limit steering or don't have bumpsteer....I call BS on that....but they can send me a rack if they like and we will put it on a stock chassis and see what it does

my 2nd gen is front-steer and for the little advantage to running a rack, I'd go with an improved version like what Ride Tech has to offer. I've seen people do racks on these cars but IMHO I don't think the work and fabrication outweighs the difference. A good quick ratio box with quality parts is still the way to go for me.

your 2nd gen has a GREAT advantage!! over first gens, its front steer!! awesome almost no deflection from surface imperfections and GM got the arm pivot points right...all that car needs is more castor and a quick ratio box!!! BAM its golden!

I took a rack off my car to run the True Turn. Yes your car will handle better with the True Turn. I would stay away from the rack. I had bump steer issues & it is a packaging nightmare. Do the whole ridetech setup. You will not be disappointed.

Before the Tru Turn Kit, Many did the Rack kits, a lot fought the install, some didn't. Now, the Tru Turn has changed everything! We have many happy customers running a well engineered system that does what its advertised to do!

Add in a Lee prepped steering box, a good blue print type 2 pump(I feel these pumps are much more efficient AND more compact) and appropriate size cooler and good synthetic PS fluid ( as a tech I have seen many cars have leaks and failures with ATF in place of PS fluid regardless of "approved" fluids). I do know that Ford PS pumps have whine issues that seem to pretty much decrease by as much as 90% with addition of a good synthetic PS fluid. I have even had better customer feedback after flushing out old ATF and installing Synth PS fluid and it holds up too heat abuse better. But this is just observed results.

The True Turn works also with NON ridetech upper and lower control harms ?
My car have quick ratio gear box and already installed unknow upper and lower tubular control harms, Hotchkiss I think but I'm not sure because I'm waithing the shipping of the car from the USA, with QA1 billet adjustable shocks
"ridetech frequently asked questions" said that Tru Turn COULD work...

      Check the undercarriage picture:

oh yes lots of experience with this!! I spent months building a non-bump steer system on my camaro with custom built and rare parts, only to have the ridetech system have less bump steer then my own (I only had .120 thousands of total deflection on mine theres over an inch of movement from factory) RideTechs system has .050! ONLY 50 thousandths, so I ran it on Global west arms and it work, I ran it on DSE arms, cheap ebay arms, Hotchkis arms and it worked, all this was before I started at RideTech...... the new RideTech arms have the ball joint locations optimized for the best results in Handling and bump-steer

here was my Hotchkis suspension car with the Tru-Turn....thats how my car had 275 tires all the way around for the last few years,,,

      Rod,

Have you or Bret come up with a list of part numbers for LS swap parts that will work with the Tru Turn system without modification? This system works great with my OEM BBC but I am seeing way to much conflicting posts here and there that the Tru Turn is a headache with a LS swap. Sorry, but I didn't want to reinvent the wheel. Now that I'm ready to do the LS swap I am seriously regretting my choice.
