Those were just 15" salt flat wheels that the previous owner had installed on the original chassis. I saw a similar build with nitrous wheels and thought it looked good. I put spyder wheels on the 66 restomod i built last year, but nobody seemed to like them either, minus the announcers at Mecum. I'm stuck at a 10.5" width without going to wider quarters, which Im not going to do at this point, so z06 wheels are out of the question. I like the wheels in the link you posted, but they look a bit too much like grand sport wheels.

Took delivery of the SRIII Chassis today. Im very happy with the quality of the components and my choice to go with the satin finish instead of gloss!!!

Do your homework. Just because some company pays to use Foose's name doesn't mean they are a high quality wheel. It's a shame really.

For a build of this caliber and quality, I would stick with a high end 3 piece wheel or a monoblock. Have you looked into Forgelines?

I mean no disrespect, I just hate it when i see a really great build ruined by a junky wheel. Wheels make or break a car.

What aort of suspension is on this chassis is this C4 or C5 upper and lower control arms? What brand coilovers? This SR3 chassis looks way better than the ones offered by Street Shop which i believe they are in your neck of the woods

Regarding wheels please do not use a Foose wheel on this car, call Forgeline and get something custom or even Evod industries can make you a knock off wheel from billet. Any size, the wheels and stance will make this build. I cant wait to see it finished and curious on how this will drive. What drivetrain is going in?

c5 front/c6 rear suspension. Double adjustable coil-overs made by Viking. I used street shop for my last build and i will never use them again.

Pm me more details on how the last build you did went and how the car drove. My next build will be a C2 vette was considering the roadster shop chassis and the sr3. Might build on a repro body as i hate to spend big money on a original car to chop up. Im very impressed with the sr3 chassis your using this should drive e
      Very good

Nobody makes a reproduction body. Even if they did, you would end up with more money in gathering small parts than if you bought a solid project. Plenty of nice, complete project cars still for around mid twenties.

Moving along again. I had to take a break from the car due to a business trip and a cold.

Back half and jambs are in primer. Next are the doors, hood, door hinges, headlamp buckets, exhaust valence, and viper vents. After everything is blocked again, i will spray the car with slick sand.

306 hours total Body work is brutally time consuming!

It only took around 2 hours to remove the rear compartment and jackwell and temporarily install the new wheels wells and floor to check fitment. Mike's/SRIII rear floor really simplifies things and was well worth the 350.00. I payed 2300.00 to have the old floor cut out and a new one fabricated for my 66 last year. Total time in this floor will be around 6 hours once all is said and done. Cost is 350.00 for the floor and 40.00 for a tube of 3m panel bond.

The official point of no return!

One more thing i dont necessarily want to throw away, but dont have a use for.

Found another hour to install spray in new undercoating and install the wheel wells and rear L support. Im going to let the adhesive cure overnight and then install the floor sections tomorrow.

These crappy cell phone photos have really reminded me that i need to start using my nikon again.

Shot from the underside of passenger wheel well. Im going to smooth out the transition from new to old glass. No reason to cut corners at this point.

I enjoy seeing instant progress, so doing the rear floor was fun. Doing the bodywork was very tedious and sometimes I felt like i accomplished nothing even after putting in a 10 hour day.

      309 hours

Rear floor and wheels wells are installed. Im going to try out some sprayable seam sealer on the underside this evening. And yes, i will be reinforcing the floor.

I guess I will just surprise you all on the wheels. Thanks for the nice comments. Now that it is coming together, i agree, it will be bad ass!

Oh, and i continue to be amazed by 3m panel bond. Tonight i put the majority of my weight, 170 pounds, on the floor boards to remove the self tapping screws holding the new rear floor panels to the new rear wheel wells and original fiberglass. The boards did not budge at the seam and there is nothing reinforcing them currently. Just an amazing product, plain and simple. I never thought an epoxy could be so strong.

Lots of little things have been address and I will post pictures of them later, but for now, here is the state of the body.

I block sanded the entire body again, then applied two more coats of SPI black epoxy. After the SPI black epoxy sat overnight, i applied two coats of Evercoat Slick Sand. I just finished blocking the slick sand on the front end and engine bay this evening.

One of those small details i was talking about above. Hinges rebuilt and coated with SPI black epoxy. This happened a few weeks ago.

I decided to ditch the fuel injection emblems and go with the early style 63 emblem, which i thought was original to the car since it has an October 62 build date. I think i might have received the wrong emblems. The original holes for the emblems were wide, while the pegs on these emblems are narrow and do not penetrate very far through the fiberglass. However, i like them and Im going to use them alone without the fuel injection emblems.

      434 Hours

After seeing a 63 split window without an antenna at SEMA i decided that i would copy that person's car and do the same. Removing the antenna gives the rear of the car a much sleeker look. I used a Hideaway antenna on a custom Mustang i built last year, so i will do the same for this one.

Two more coats of slick sand and a whole hell of a lot more sanding. I sure hope this thing is as smooth as glass! Oh, and surprise...I ordered SPI black today for the basecoat. I saw a 63 in cyber gray a few weeks ago and it did not look so hot. I thought about switching to silver, but most every 63 restomod i have seen in the last year has been silver, so black it is...straight black, no metallic.

Oh, and i see what y'all mean about Foose wheels now, or at least the nitrous II wheels. I got to see them up close and personally at SEMA and was not impressed. I think i will go with one of the selections from the new line of wheels offered by Billet Specialties.
