      1939 Plymouth Business Coupe project.

For the first time in my life I have purchased a completed car. I have a 1939 Plymouth Business Coupe with a 409 cu in small block and a 350 automatic transmission. The front end was grafted to the frame and is Chevrolet. I know it's chevrolet and I think its an early model camaro front end but am not sure. Does anyone know how to identify front ends? I want to add some drop springs to the front but don't want to buy more than one set to find out if they work. HELP

Post some pics of the suspension. Just about anyone here will be able to tell by looking what you have. You can also pull some part numbers off the spindles or steering box. Post 'em up.

with the front mount box it is probably a 70-81 camaro or firebird. sub is the same, depending on the year the box could have 2 different size input splines, center link and tie rods are different from camaro to firebird

Thanks for the info. So the position of the steering box is the main clue? Thanks again.

Can you get a clear picture of one of the upper control arms or maybe a shot from the wheelwell with a wheel off? That will help.

Agreed... looks like 70-81 camaro... can you see where the frame was Grafted to the 39's?... Another posibility is they just dropped the body on a GM A-body frame,, maybe 68-72?... whats the rearend/ rear suspension look like? GM? 112" wheelbase?

of coarse s-10 frames are a popular chassis' for rods too... lol, sorry for the confusion..

No it's definantly grafted to the 39 frame. Frame has an X in the middle for strength and you can definantly tell where it was welded on. Rear end is a standard 10 bolt Chevrolet rear end. Looks to be out of the same camaro that donated the front end.
