      Member Feedback Forum

Not all of you may have noticed, but a few months ago there was a call from a small number of very passionate members for a feedback forum to satisfy the need to provide both positive and negative feedback on Sponsor Vendors / Non-Sponsor Vendors and / Private Sellers.

Needless to say, doing so is a lot more complex than it seems at a high level but we felt that the request was valid and that if designed correctly it could be easier for us to moderate than dozens of threads spread all across the various forums here at PT.com.

So ok folks. I am pleased to announce that after no small amount of deliberation, legal consultation & research on our part with other forums we have created and launched a member feedback forum here at PT.com. As stated elsewhere this is does create a number of potential exposures for PT.com and it's ownership / staff that we believe to have mitigated. Further, we feel that we've created a feedback process that though not perfect offers the best compromise to suit the needs of the membership while protecting members, private sellers and vendors from unfair defamation.

      1) The system will allow legitimate complaints to be made.

      2) The system will allow fair rebuttal for the vendors / private sellers

      3) The system will not allow for piling on or groupthink to unfairly defame either vendors or complainants.

      4) The system will provide an easily searchable, concise database for people to use to make informed buying decisions.

In order to ensure the above w/o the need for constant monitoring of the various threads on our part, for which we simply don't have time, there is a simple, set of rules for posting in the feedback thread found here. Rules found in this post

The forum has been placed as a subforum within the "Marketplace". We feel that this is the most appropriate location for the topic. Over time we will prune and migrate appropriate threads spread over PT.com to this forum to enhance the quality of the database within the forum. Forum found here

I think it's a good step and all message boards should have that section,so there is less people getting screwed.I swear there was a way to leave feedback for transactions, but lately I can't seem to find it,

The old board did have a trader rating system, but it was getting abused and on the new rev of vbulletin it wasn't working correctly so we scrapped the feature.

Thank you. I just read the rules and think they're very reasonable and constructive. And as always, I'm so very impressed with the how deliberately, thoughtfully, and intelligently this forum is run. Nice work!

Thanks Wyatt. The real work is now up to all of us to use this new sub-forum in a decent and constructive way.

Thank you. As we said in the other thread this is not an issue that has a simple solution. What we came up with is probably far from perfect, but nothing ever is. At the end of the day every consumer has to do their due diligence and make up their mind about a particular seller. The feedback forum will simply be an extra data point for consideration in the whole purchasing decision.
