Here is a pic of my lastest project. Bought it in April. One owner car with 289 v8 automatic. Have big plans for it and open to any suggestions or feedback.

DO IT! too many perfect trailer queens out there. So much more fun to build a car that you can go out and flog when you're done.
I say Bullitt with a twist. Instead of FE power, go for something nuts like a 4.6L terminator (tricked) and T-56 trans with 9" out back on a 3 link. Big brakes and 17 or 18 inch wheels. M2 IFS and coil overs up front for clearance.
70 Maverick: 302 w/ TL 4 spd. 9" rear 3.91:1 gears on a mini spool. 4 wheel disk brakes, cage, fuel cell, and more to come!! next up.... suspension!

Great looking ride. Toss some wheels and tires on it and enjoy it before you spend all the time and money trying to rebuild it. The "while I'm at it" changes will take all your time and money...

Great advice. I didnt follow that advice and spent a month in my shop every waking hour trying to get my car back together in time for Power Tour. We made it but we were really tired.....

Drive it now. The car is fun as is. I would keep it Wimbledon White an black interior.

If you are going crazy then whore yourself out and put the new Coyote 5.0 in it.

I am sure I will see some at SEMA this year.

Be careful its a slipery slope once you start. I said the same thing. For what I already spent I could have done two in stock trim.

Leave it alone? I thought this was a board for guys who build cool cars LOL

There are plenty of stock restored Mustangs out there and unless it was some rare, one only type, of deal, I say improve it.
I do agree with the guys that say Don't MII these cars. The only thing you really gain is engine compartment room. Rack & Pinion? You can add it to stock front ends. Disc Brakes? same answer. And with TCP or Global West stuff, you get a better responding front end with a better camber curve than the MII stuff.
I sold a 62 Ranchero a few years back to a Ford Engineer that worked in Dearborn. We were discussing my Falcon Convert as I was considering doing an MII myself at the time. He told me there was a group of Ford Employees that were dedicated to the early Mustang's and Falcons and that a couple had experienced cracked windshields in convertibles after doing an MII conversion. So they played in the Cray Super Computer and did some finite stress analysis on the front of the cars. What they found was the elimination of the shock towers was causing enough movement in the front end and cowl to cause the windshield breakage. Not enough to cause frame cracking or anything on non convertibles, but it did show that all the cars were moving around a bit. He also said that the Mustang's were worse than the Falcons in this regard. They concluded that doing this type of arrangement really called for adding bars from the firewall to the lower frame rails at a minimum to stop the movement (similar to most Nova front clip kits).
As for the Fatman Strut conversion, that is really going back wards in my opinion. You get just about 0 camber gain with a strut front end. Why do you think after all those years Porsche went to an A Arm type arrangement on the 911's? I can't really think of any serious race car designs that are using struts unless the rules say the car has to keep the original design.

      More on the Coyote motor:

They are for sale and not as pricey as I thought.

      Hmmm... might be cool.

They are H U G E, as in W I D E. I have two 2011 Mustang's in the shop and the motor completely fills the 2011 engine bay. I can't imagine shoehorning it where it didn't come. Sure seems wider than the old FE that was tight in those cars, or a Cleavland even.

But they do go like stink, especially when you figure out that the computer pulls throttle position out at what you think is Wide Open Throttle and turns out to be only about 87%
This latest GT 5.0 I am working on made 357 at the rear wheels dead stock and according to a well known "Specialty Car Co." that we did exhaust for, there was 23 more found with our 3" kit - but I haven't verified that with our Dyno guy yet.

I've found them for $6100 at some well known online places, and electronics to run them are around $1100. Not a bad deal.

      Fastback

I was actually thinking about building a late model 351w roller block and using the AFR 185 heads I have. Maybe stroke it to 392 or 408.

I also have a coupe with aluminum head 351w, 5 speed, 4 wheel pdb, 17" wheels, procar seats. Built it myself including stripping to bare metal, priming, blocking, painting , buff & polish. Here is a pic of it.

I just dont like it...the list is to long to type.....
It does not do anything well
BUT it will give you side to side room
BUT if that is what you need notch the the towers and put in a Gateway strut set up.
