      1974 Plymouth Scamp Build

Well I'll start this from the begining. I purchased this car in March of 09 and it was a Slant 6 904 combo but she was rust free and had disc brakes on all 4 corners and 27,000 original miles. The previous owner had just recently completed Power Tour with the 6 banger but I knew that powerplant was never going to keep me happy. I was only going to do a repaint and a V8 swap and somehow along the way I went crazy. Now it has developed into a shaved door handle, shaved drip rail, smoothed firewall, injected 360, triangulated 4 link, slammed coil over front suspension, 13 inch disc front, 12 inch disc rear, BMW 8 way adjustable seated, 4-speeded, 9.25 rearended, 2 tone on bare metaled, beast that is running faster then my wallet is. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. By the way this is all being done in a 2 car garage.

      The Start:

Ok a few more pictures: I still need to clean up the metal back here a bit but this is my fabbed lower control arm mount. I decided to use the 1/4 plate to add some strength and I will be fabbing up torque boxes to take some of the shock of driving.

This is where most guys relocate the leaf springs to so they can run bigger tires. I'm using this to provide a nice lower mount. The sheet metal was formed by hand and I couldn't get a good angle to get nice pictures which is why it looks all crooked

Nice to see you made it over to pt.com. What is the ride height going to be to the rocker? Also, how is the trim going to work around the side windows now that the drip rail is shaved? I honestly can't remember the specific pieces, but I thought one piece wrapped around and up to or onto the drip rail. I could be way the heck off though. WELCOME!!!

Wellis the drip rail hides another piece that the weather strip goes into. That piece is polished stainless but we are going to paint it body color to blend it in a bit. The ride height will end up at the rocker 9.5 inches off the ground give or take an inch the fronts will be dropped using 2 inch drop spindles to get better travel out of the front end I will be notching the frame rail to clear the lower arm a bit too.

drflex I work at a tire and wheel shop so I'm getting my wheels this week actually.

I like to be different my last Mopar was an 81 Mirada with a 440/727 in full street trim and before that one I had a Panther Pink 71 Dart with a 451 stroker 727 combo caged and tubbed.

I will be mocking up my 4 link this weekend with a rear wheel and hopefully cutting down my 9.25 rear end to see what the real ride height will be once it's on the ground. I wanted to run a 325/30/20 in the rear but the wheel houses will not allow that at the top of my suspension travel.

Are you trying to run 20's or will you be going with 18's? Thanks for the info on the drip rail shave, I'll need to spend some time looking at that because I really want to have a clean look. Don't think I'm going the shave handles look. I like the idea but have concerns about getting into the car in an emergency situation, i.e. just wrecked on a road course and a safety crew can't get in...

I'm running 20's cause I want that full size hot wheel's car look. I'll put the trim back on the drip rail this weekend and post some pics so you ca see it. Also the drip rail is a huge pain to shave because it's where the factory attached the roof to the outside panels and there are 3 pieces tied together. I have to tell you it took 3 days or cutting and welding to do the one side and I had to tack in all the cut a groove into it and burn it in then cut another notch and finish weld it. I can take full pictures of the drivers side as I do it to help you see how I did it.
