Yeah, the PS2's are expensive! I don't know if you'd ever get to the point of having dedicated tires for road racing versus autocrossing...

The necessary turning radius for autocrossing (as well as street driving) would probably be twice of that needed for road racing. Turning at speed only requires a few degrees... I bet the perfect setup would be a 285 for street driving and autocrossing and a 295 for road racing.

Steve can you tell me more info on the Wurth Stone guard like reason you went with it, can you buy in in quarts, etc or only cans, about how many cans did Penny take also? Thanks in advance for sharing all the info and pics of Penny. Brandon

You can buy it in spray cans or in containers, but you need a special gun to shoot it from containers (about $130). Typically takes 3-4 cans.

I like the finish.. it's durrable, dries to a pretty hard feel and is fairly easy to clean up. It's used in a lot of OEM applications.

Good point on the radius deal.. to be honest I may not lose that much.. won't know until I try.

Today was dyno day.. my guess (what I hoped for) was 650/620.. turned out to be a decent guess.

While the cam we're running is large compared to other LS cams it's not that big considering the displacement of the engine. COMP said I could pick up a bunch of tq/hp by moving to a more aggressive 112 LSA, but drivability and idle would suffer.

Since I don't want too much power and I want to keep my street friendly drivability we settled on a 114 LSA.

Fired right up.. idle was good and after some break in time Westech made some pulls and adjusted the A/F..

Best pull was 650 hp and 613 tq.. but the best part is that even down at 3500 rpm it's already making 550 lb/ft. The torque peeks at around 4600 and is still well over 500 up at 6500. That's the kind of torque curve I was looking for - flat and a bit weighted to the bottom/midrange area.

Friday we start installing.. this engine should serve me well while I CAREFULLY build my RHS blocked / Mast Motorsport headed 460 engine.

      Ready to rumble:

Wow..big HP numbers! Hmmmm...could we see a twin turbo set up in Steve's future? 1000 hp would be interesting on the street..track..anywhere!

Great engine build...love those trick flow heads you have on it!

No way.. I'm a naturally aspirated guy.. I just don't want the weight/heat/complexity of a blower or turbos.. Besides, I think this will be the limit of what the car can handle putting down.

Thanks Scott.. looking over the data right now and I'm pretty happy.

The BMEP numbers were between 181 and 191 from 4,100 rpm to 5,800 rpm .. efficiency is a good thing!

I can't remember, how does that stack up compared to the 402? Should be a handful. Ron

Nice flat curve....those two words don't sound like they fit together...never the less...great power fairly low in the rpm band and it only gets better as the r's climb. I think this bullet is a winner!

Instead of hunting Easter eggs today we did this...

Thanks to D!ck over at BOS for helping me swing the new drivetrain into place. Tomorrow I start plugging everything in and installing the drive system.

      So far, so good...
