Lots of work done today.. fuel tank is in and we started final fit on the new inner fenders. The new core support and oil system is done and you can see it here mocked up.

Engine build is now set for Tuesday with install starting on Thursday. We hope to have her ready for Del Mar Goodguys.

Found a few interesting deals during the teardown.

One was that the driver side sway bar arm on the splined sway bar was VERY loose.. just sorta flopping around. I'm sure we tightened the hell out of this. More that likely didn't help in one direction of turning.

The clutch master rod was bent all to hell.. we will add a stop to prevent over compressing the rod. No wonder it kept getting harder to get in gear..

I guess it is good that you tear Penny down for upgrades periodically. It always seems you have found the limits of some part when you are making improvements. Good luck getting her back together for the next event.

Rather than thrash it together we will shoot to have her done by Del Mar Goodguys. That gives us anohter week.

I would rather have it built right than fast. Oh the core support is done and it came out stunning! ..

Good choice Steve-O. A sign I once saw in a custom shop: "We can work fast, we can work cheap, we can deliver quality. Pick any two..."

My buddy owns a sign shop and he made them up realy quick in vinyl. google "swifty sign" + "cucamonga" and his name is scott.. I'm sure they are pretty cheap if he has them saved in his PC.

I'm OCD in the cleaning department.. I should seek help...

Built the engine today over at Turn Key Engine Supply..

      Penny's new alum 454:

4.185 bores using Darton's MID sleeves. Wiseco pistons.

454 Ready to head off to Westech for dyno runs on Wednesday.. any guesses? 72cc TF 235 heads with 9.235 deck height and Cometic gaskets should yield 11.3:1 compression.

Will start the install on Friday. The Canton oil pan is off at our tig welder getting a little mod.

      Hey Steve,

      EVERYTHING looks GREAT!!

I don't have any idea about your cam choice but I'd take a guess...

      - 680 hp @ 6,700 rpm's
      - 585 ft-lbs @ 5,200 rpm's

I'm sorry if you've already answered this but what size tire and wheel combination will you be able to run up front with the inner fender mods? Will it be a 295 series tire?

It just keeps getting better and better...

Wow that little bullet is a thing of beauty.
      1970 RS/SS350 139K on the clock:
89 TPI motor w/ 1pc rear seal coupled to a Viper T56 via Mcleod's modular bellhousing w/ hydraulic T/O bearing from the Viper, 12 bolt rear w/ 3.73 gearing, SC&C upper control arms, factory lowers with Delalums, C5 brakes at all four corners, Front Wheels 17x8's with Sumi 255/40/17 and Rear Wheels 17x9's with Sumi 275/40/17.

I could MAYBE run a 295.. but it would hurt turning radius.. I'm thinking more of a 285. I won't do it right away since I just bought these 275s and PS2s arn't cheap.
