DSE Wiper motor question

Does anyone know for sure what application the DSE wiper motor is from?
The 4th gen Camaro and C5 motors look similar, but have only 5 wires. The DSE unit has 8 wires. My suspicion is that it is a 2000 up Cadillac Deville motor, which has the same 8 wires as the DSE.
I am trying get the best match in a column mounted switch. There are three wire switches that put full 12v on the speed control wire for wash which is then interepreted by the solid state in the wiper motor to trigger the washer pump, 4 wire switches (like 4th gen Camaro) that run a separate circuit with a diode for the washer pump, and the Cadillac that uses a 4 wire switch, which inputs into the solid state on the wiper motor.
I believe that the 2000 up caddy is the new style column, ad thus the wiper switch will not work in the old syle tilt/cruise columns.

I will be glad to share diagrams etc for this when I get it figured out.

It is for sure a Cadillac Deville motor. Not a 4th gen Camaro, or Blazer, or Full size truck. I just pulled one from a 2001.

I'd love the wire diagrams if you still have them.

The Cadillac wire colors looking from the back of the plug:

____[]__[]____
(A) (B) (C) (D)
(H) (G) (F) (E)
_____________

Top row
A (red 22ga) B (Yellow 14ga) C (Black 14ga) D (Black 22ga)

Bottom row
H (Purple 22ga) G (Blue 22ga) F (Green 22ga) E (Grey 22ga)

DSE uses the following wires:

Top row
A (N/A) B (yellow 14ga) C (Black 14ga) D (N/A)

Bottom row
H (Black 22ga) G (Blue 22ga) F (N/A) E (N/A)

Does anyone know what the resistance values are for each position?

I can check my 4th gen switch.

I had forgotten all about this post. I have the wiring figured out to use the 4th gen column switch along with the wash/wipe functionality with the washer pump controlled by the wiper motor.

This looks to be pretty close to DSE's switch...

http://shop.willyselectronics.com/br...fm/4,4808.html

Product Overview:
Part Number: 30-15205
Open Frame Rotary Switch

Specifications:
Switch Name: Rotary Switch
Switch Type: Non-Shorting
Number of Poles: 2
Number of Positions: 5
Actuator: 38mm Aluminum Shaft (6.35mm OD)
Current Rating: 0.3A @ 125VAC
Mounting Hole: 0.375"
Initial Contact Resistance: 20 Meg Ohm (Max)
Insulation Resistance: 500VDC - 100 Meg Ohm (Min)
Withstand Voltage: 500VAC - 1 Minute
Rotational Torque: 1.0 ± 0.5 kg/om
Terminal Type: Solder
Manufacturer: Philmore

The shaft is aluminum not brass, and is too long but it's close. It also only has five positions DSE has seven.

I imagine that you would just need to solder the different resistors on the back. and cover it with Heat shrink wrap.

This site looks promising too: http://www.electroswitch.com/

voltage or coded switches are available.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use an 8 position switch with the first position a wash/wipe position.

I know this is a very old thread, but was wondering what switch people ended up using with this motor?

I found what appears to be the exact same rotary switch that DSE uses. I believe this is it.

http://www.alliedelec.com/search/pro...x?SKU=70152412

BTW, the DSE switch has a mini circuit board on the back with all the resistors built in. I have not finalized my wiring setup for this and have yet to get the park feature to work yet, but this is the switch I have been testing with. I may need to go to the same switch only with 2 poles to make the wiring a bit simpler, but the wipers on on the back burner for now.

It is, I verified it with a few owners of the DSE kit.

The problem is I can't figure out how to make my own switch for it......yet....

Good find on the other switches guys, I might have to try those out.
