I watched a 65 Impala die a slow death because of those very same words.

An old widow drop it off at the junkyard when her husband passed. Nice decent car with little rot with it arrived. White with blue interior and 327 with 2.02 double hump heads. I asked 3 time over the years and the yard guys kept saying they were gonna make a race car out of it. That was back in 1997 and to my knowledge it's still there, now alot more deteiorated, not winning any races.

Not surpirisingly it's not too far from where that camaro is. The TN mountains are a treasure trove of hidden jems and junkyards burried all through out the Appala"ch"ians.

Where are the wheels on that Camaro... it's buried axle deep in shrubbery. Bring in some steelies and some agent orange to get that baby out!

Man I know.....There's a either '64 or '66 nova ss here in town in these people's back yard, older couple, and I finally just got tired of being told it was not for sale. I have watched as the last 6 years weeds have just grown up around it. Man I'd like to have it...

While I see your points... my brother has a Monte Carlo Aerocoupe that hasn't been touched in 10yrs... although the likelihood of him building it is MUCH greater than these left-outside-to-rot-treasures.

Specifically what wheels? The Salad shooters should fit, depending on the tire.

Who are you kidding the EPA won't let you take that car.

      1. It doesn't pollute (at the moment)

      2. It's Bio-Degrading as we speak.

      and

      3. It's providing a habitat for a whole ecological system.

removing that car would be a crime against nature.

I bet that car is pretty darn close to me. If it were a 69 i would defintely be beating the pavement looking for it.

If I was you I would go and tell him you've been watching that Chevelle sit there since you were 6 years old and you would love to buy it and restore it. You never know, certain things catch peoples attention. You wouldn't be another random person asking if its for sale. Pull on the heart strings a little and see what happens. Especially if you could give him some history of it and how you remember it looking through the years.

I always believe that most people won't sell their cars for fear of it getting destroyed by someone else. Granted leaving it out to rot doesn't help the car either but at least they are keeping it out of the hands of someone they think will destroy it. Does that make sense.....

Yeah, I've never understood the theory behind why people won't sell. 'though, we really don't know, I'm sure there are some that either a family member could have died and that was their car and just can't bear to part with it, maybe it was a car that the people are hoping to have the money to fix it up someday, and yes, the thought of their beloved '68 camaro being butchered up for a demolition derby probably isn't too keen either. Who knows?
