      2016 Power Tour

So, I have been around here for almost 12 years now. I have seen the hobby grow, new programs come along and made tons of friends thru this site.
However, my original reason for coming here was to build a car that would be a cool power tour car, and thankfully I was able to accomplish that with the GTO. That was 2006.
I have been thinking lately, how cool would it be to start planning now and have a good group of PT.com do the long haul again, like a group of us did in 2006. There were some life long friendships made on that trip and I think it would be fun to repeat it, now 10 years later. Most of the original group don't hang out here anymore, and those that do have different cars now.
Lets get some conversation going, make some plans and represent PT.com in 2006.

I don't think that has been announced yet. My guess is it will start somewhere near New Orleans??? and then I am guessing head back east and north based on where it has been over the last 10 or so years.

Bill the best part of powertour the years I've attended were the parking lot hangouts back at the hotels. The best bet is to make a hotel list once the route is announced and the PT.com members try to stay at the same places...

I'm interested but would need to see the route before I could commit.

Bill, that sounds like fun. I remember being part of that 06 group. Now that I am back on the east coast, it will be a lot easier!

I've always wanted to go, but these legs are always so far East... it's always quite a roadtrip from Arizona to get to the starting point of a roadtrip, then a roadtrip back home... so 3 roadtrips in one, kind of a long time and a lot of money!

So you have to split it up into a weekend to stage the car east, then fly home to work. Then fly back out to drive the event, store the car, and fly back to work. Then fly back the following weekend to drive the car home. Not the most cost effective way to do it if you don't have lots of airline points but it requires the fewest vacation days off from work. I just need to find a nice project in Nashville for a year or two to use it as a staging point for the events in the eastern US.

Piece of cake! My pockets aren't that deep. Think the Firebird would be safe in the airport long term parking?

Ours is in the fenced lot behind my hotel in St Louis right now just a short distance from Ferguson, MO. But I bet if we ask nicely there are people on this board that would volunteer to watch cars for a week at each end of the route if we went with this plan. There might even be people on here with extra airline miles to help with the plan.

But I'm waiting to see the route too. Some day we'll do Power Tour but it all depends on the route.

My dad and I really want to do the power tour, but we have the same issue that it is always too far away from AZ. I'd love it if they'd have the power tour down the West coast from Seattle to San Diego or something like that.

We've done the PT so many times, in both cars and it's always a great time. It's just we want to do so much thru the year and the PT is such a bIg commitment and expense. So it is so much harder for us to go now with everything going on.

I'm in the same boat, out here in the Central Valley of California, a trip starting in Baton Rouge La would not be on my list of top priorities. We need a west coast run!

I'd love to see some cruise through PCH 1 in California, maybe up to Washington even, or even through Colorado... something different.
