Fuel Injected LS1 with inline MSD fuel management Issue

I have a 53 Chevy 3100 with with a LS1 EFI with inline MSD fuel pump and regulator with a return line from the regulator. The pump was noticed to be cycling on and off while the truck was sitting in the garage with the key in the ignition but in the off position. It would occur once every 5 minute and run for about 10sec. That problem seemed to stop after pulling the key out of the ignition???. The truck started and ran fine for a few days but stopped suddenly one trip but started up after sitting for a minute and ran fine for another 30 miles but wouldn't start up after stopping again. I towed her home but she won't start now. Also I noticed that the fuel pump which would normally run for about a second when the key was turned now doesn't do that. I put a pressure regulator on the shrader valve on the rail and it does not register any pressure when turning the key on. It sounds like the pump but my question is initially why would the pump run after shutting down and the key in the ignition but not on?

Need more info. Are you using a stock computer with a MSD pump or are you using the MSD EFI system?

I would make a temporary jump directly from the battery to see if the pump runs. If not, you found your problem. If the pump runs, then check the wiring from the computer to the fuel pump relay, the relay itself, and the wiring from the relay to the pump.

Traced the problem to the relay and replaced it and everything works fine and the current pressure is 50 on the fuel rail. Thanks.

Glad you found the problem. What regulator are you using? LS fuel systems operate at 58.5psi.

It was from a 99 corvette. I rechecked the pressure and found it to be 55-60. My mechanic says that it has to be above 45psi for the LS to operate properly. Regardless I think Im fine. Thanks for the help tho..
