      JRI Shocks

      Has anyone used the JRI hydraulic shocks? Looks like another way to go other than air, thoughts!

      DSE / JRI partnered together on a 70ish Nova that will have this setup on it.

      Hopefully it will be ready soon to see it thrash....

      Only thing I noticed was they stated shocks are single adjistable..but the youtube vid of the iphone/android app they said you can adjust compression and rebound?

      BRE Rods is using double adjustable hydraulic ride height shocks on a nomad build they are doing. I've seen the frame in person and it is a bad ass set up for sure.

      We have installed 1 set and have another set on order. The shock was designed to raise and lower the car 2" without effecting the spring rate, unlike the air bag. The air bag system was a great invention for trucks hauling trailers. When you add air to your air bag you increase spring rate so unless your towing trailers the air bag is a thing in the past. With the JRI hydraulic hide height we only get 2" of travel, if you want to "lay frame" this system isn't for you. I love watching those cars that lay frame driving down the road, it looks like the need a kidney belt.
      When you order shocks from JRI they ask you what your doing with the vehicle, a drag racing shock won't work on a circle track car and a off road shock won't work on a street performance car. When you buy a shock make sure it's valved for what your doing or it does no good.

      super car technology for us lowly lifeforms. this system looks pretty awesome and would be perfect for weekend racers who still want to get over sleeping policemen and speed bumps. the one other thing that could..technically.. be added to it is a hydraulic anti-sway circuit (MP4-12C and P1). i suppose its only a matter of time.

      I must disagree with your assessment that airsprings are a "thing of the past". In reality, they are the future because of their success in the past.

      Like any other spring, airsprings come in many load capacities, spring rates and sizes. The first order of business is to start out with an appropriately sized airspring. THEN...you can adjust that spring within a nominal range to customize the load capacity and spring rate. Radical air pressure changes do make significant spring rate and ride height changes. the adjustments that i am talking about are 5-10 psi up or down. Within that range the spring rate is affected much quicker than the ride height...meaning that you can tune that spring rate without changing ride height. That adjustability is what makes an air suspension an almost unfair advantage in racing...IF class rules allow it.

      We have been proving the merits of air suspension for 18 years on street cars, track day cars, military vehicles and yes, towing vehicles. We will continue to prove it this weekend in Texas at the Ultimate Street Car event in Ft. worth. We will have our shockwave equipped Chevelle and C10 racing at Texas Motor Speedway...come on out to watch!

      You can't beat the ride quality of coil overs with the appropriately spec'd springs, you know that. That's why you offer coil overs.

      I love both as its a healthy competition between vendors while giving consumers a wider range of options!
      only thing about JRI is now you have 1 extra fluid level to check..
      I also realized the Viking Berserkers ASM don't offer any ride height adjustments, unless i'm wrong
      but 3 cool options non the less

      with Airride you can also go with air assist brakes too with 4 wheel wheel parking brake via air master brake and use of ridetech air control tank

      I know I can make coilovers ride nicely. I also know I can make air suspension ride even better. My customers know that too. I sell both because as a businessman, my job is to develop and deliver a wide range of products that solve a wide range of customers problems. We've been reasonably successful with that concept for the last 18 years.

      I'm a little allergic to poaching another companies thread any further, so I'll address any future questions in another thread.

      Btw...for the record, I've looked at the JRI height adjuster. Nice work, as usual. Yet another valid way to accomplish ride height adjustment.
