      Lost my dog....

Had to put my 8 year old Flatcoated Retriver dog to sleep, for the last 5-6 months he had problem with his breath. He collapsed and was at the vet several times getting oxygen and firs aid. After a lot of testing the local vets gave up and we drove 600km to the main vetrinary school in Norway on Monday to do more testing. While testing EKG, blood, breath and so he collapsed and turned blue. The gave him oxygen and put him into "narkose". They found out the problem was the muscle that controls the breath was not working properly and nothing could be done because of his age. We decided to put him asleep. RIP Texas.

We get so close to them. They're not just pets ... they become a part of the family.

      Sorry for your loss.

I feel for you. I can barely open threads with titles like these because of the losses I have had over the years with dogs. They truly are family. Try to remember the fun times and love shared knowing you did all you could for him.
I am not useless, I can still be used as a bad example!

Sorry for your loss, they really are like four-legged children. Take comfort in knowing he's in a better place.

We know decisions like this are the right things to do, but it still hurts to have to make them.

Sorry you lost your friend. Its hard.
At least you got to say good bye. I lost my little friend last year, hit by a car and he died while I was away.
