      Flush Glass

I'm thinking on how to flush mount the windshield and rear glass in my 2nd gen Camaro. Raise the flange and close up the opening to the shape of my glass? And to use/not use some kind of T strip molding. I suppose the perimeter would be blacked out with windshield primer, then the glass installed with urethane.

Anybody been there/done that with advice?

      Brad

Sometimes when you make the opening smaller it makes the area around the glass look kinda cartoonish you can try here and see if he's got a set made for your car yethttp://classicautoglassinnovations.com/index.php He's a member herehttps://www.pro-touring.com/member.p...amtheonlyreal1never used his stuff so I can't give you a review

Thanks, I emailed him to see... so I guess he just has slightly bigger pieces of glass to avoid the extra thick looking flanges? I didn't think about how closing the perimeter in will change the look a bit. That's one to think about....

ok here goes... I purchaced a kit from classic auto glass innovations in October of 2011.... and still have not recieved the kit. the owner Robert Jackson.has had all kinds of problems with he overseas mfg. of this 2nd gen line.
He tells me that I will be one of the first to get the glass and it should be delivered sometime next month.Ill keep you guys posted as to the quality and the fit & finish. I have also had trouble Keeping in ouch with him. He is not very good at returning phone calls or E-mails. Best bet is to just keep trying.
He told me that once the product line is in place that the availibility would not be a problem. Its just taking FOREVER to get things going.

I looked at the Auto City Classics web site and I see that their flush fit Camaro glass is much less expensive than Classic Auto Glass Innovations. I'll call them today and see what I can learn.

these places are too high priced, just do the work, it wasnt that hard to do mine.

You can simply make a filler metal trim, weld it in real quick. I am going with the "no show" window trim.

Pics mike? Do you cut the valley and raise it up to make glass flush. Understand the narrowing of the opening

I was thinking with mine I would make like metal shims to raise the glass and then add metal around the edges to bring in the gaps. I'm still trying to figure out what weatherstripping to run

I just spoke to Robert at Classic Autoglass today and he said they are very close to having their line up and ready to go. He explained how his kit works also, using the urethane to space it up. Since I'm not yet in a hurry, I'm going to wait until I can see what he has before I start hacking my flanges up.

I would like to see some close up photos of flush glass in Camaros, or anything else, if anybody has some they can post.

      Flush Glass

      Is your car painted already?

I flush mounted front and rear using a rubber surround but the best way to do it is adding filler material as described earlier.

I spoke to Auto City Classics today and I got the straight scoop on the flush mount glass these folks have. The body of the car needs to be verified dimensionally to fit the glass. There is about 1/16th inch spacing around the glass based on a 'proper fit'. Auto City Classics had glass cut to fit the opening of a car they apparently had access to. Your car will probably need to be modified for a correct fit. They offer no 'kit' for this glass. It also seems to be the same glass that is offered by Classic Glass Innovations.

Tom, I don't think so. Classic has glass for multiple cars but Auto City only offers glass for 1st gen Camaros.
