      Mini Tub Rear End

Hey guys, looks like I'm going to bite the bullet and do the mini tub on my 67 Camaro (using DSE's Deep Tubs - 040401). The questions I have surround what most guys are doing for a narrowed rear. How much is the "normal" amount to narrow on either side and is this mainly for astetics (deeper dish)? Then how much do the spring pearches move? I am retaining leaf springs (Landrum's) and building a new rear (likely a 9inch Currie). Where do I want to shop for this rear end? Any suggestions are TOO welcome.

      Jim,
Have you decided on a brake/wheel/tire package yet? You will need to decide which rear end you are planning to use and the brake package. That way you know what your axle offsets are & the brake dimensions. You can determine what the nominal width needs to be, then factor in wheel dimensions based on what fits and what look you are after. You will need to use offset shackles with the Deep Tubs. DSE makes a rear mini-tub kit that includes everything you would need for the project.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need/want any information regarding DSE or Currie components.

Walt, I am looking at the custom 12 bolt from Currie. I have 11 inch rear disc kit from a 94 T bird turbo coupe. They are bracketed for my 10 bolt but should be able to fit with mods on the new 12 bolt Currie which uses Ford 9 inch ends. I see they have this option on the website. My brakes came from SSB. I was looking into 19 inch wheels either 10 or 11 inch wide, but dont know exactly how much dish I want. I just know I want more dish in the rear.

First, if you have not already done so, read this thread which explains WMS.

Next, I strongly recommend that you buy your wheels/tires first with the dish you want then mock them up under the car after the tubs are installed to determine the actual WMS to WMS you need for your setup. With the DSE tubs you can use a 12" wide wheel with no problem.
