Okay guys here's a bit of a mystery for you. I bought a 69 Checvy with a stroked SBC and a 5 speed from a guy in Washington a few weeks ago. I bought the car for the body and paint and figured the rest can be changed out. The issue I am having is it seems the people who put the car together frankensteined the entire drive train. I have a Borg Warner 5 speed that checks out as being from an 84-85-86 eagle.. sigh... anyway the bell housing has been cut on the bottom presumably to allow the clutch and flywheel to fit, and it has cause the bellhousing to start stress cracking (see picture) The problem is that noone knows what type of bellhousing I would need to replace the current one without cutting it again. I know I can take to housing out and measure the opening to see but I really have a limited amount of time to use a lift and it would be nice to pull it and swap it all at once. Any help would be great.





Also the engine is a 383 stroker with all the goodies and is supposed to have 475 hp at the flywheel. It has a holly fuel system and seems to run rich. When I shift there is a puff of smoke from both exhaust pipes which loots light grey. This is the only time the engine smokes, and I haven't run it enough to tell if it burns any oil but it shouldn't. Could this be from running rich? I can usually smell gas strongly when I shut the car off. Thanks in advance.
