"Poor-Boy" 1967 Firebird Murder Coupe Build

So I have been a member on here for over a year now, I made an update to my introduction thread but I realized It's not a build thread. So this will be my build thread. the link to my intro: https://www.pro-touring.com/showthre...053#post917053

The car is an all original 1967 Firebird 326 Auto, I love this car because it was a gift from my father. The plan is to build a street driven track monster on a poor-boy budget. I have ownd a few muscle cars in the past, but I have mainly built honda powered road race and drag cars. This car will be with my until im in a grave so this is a long term project with detail my main concern. I like to do things once and perfect the first time.

      on with some pictures

waiting on parts is the worst, LOL. Are they the solid body bushings? your photos still aren't showing up, I get a red X. I have the global west solid body mount bushings on mine and they are great quality. although I do have to have the body mount tabs on the subframe fixed, the holes are rotted out a bit too big. I've also got global west subframe connectors that I have to have welded on, those are very good quality as well.

The bushings shown are for the front lower control arms, Global West makes them. Tonight I will be picking up the Hotchkis front sway bar and endlinks from the UPS store

Hahaha, I see the photos on my phone but not my computer at work. I didn't splurge for those control arm bushings just yet myself, figured I'd wait till I got tubular arms. Your car looks real clean, when we get the cars done we'll have to meet up at patriot place or something. I'm hoping to get mine driveable by August, not done, but driveable lol

yeah man this is going to be a multi year project, I hope to get the brakes and suspension up to par by september. . . but in october its all coming appart so I can pull the motor so it can get reworked a bit and so I can install the missing "man pedal" and a T-56 transmission ;)

Great starting point. Nice that it was your dad's car too. I have all the GW suspension parts....they are very good quality parts. Are you planning to stay with the 326, or go with a 400/428/455? I like the man pedal quote. You will love the car even more!!!

Im going to keep the 326, My best friends dad builds pro-stock race engines, he said he can get 500hp out of it easy. So we will see what I can do with it, I love the idea of having the original motor in it.

side note, i just opened up the 6 foot long Hotchkis box with my sway bar in it lol. It is very beastly looking! I will post some pics in a few

This sway bar is massive, Im used to working on imports so this is about twice as thick as any aftermarket sway ive ever installed lol

I think it's a good move to keep it original. No disrespect intended but 500 hp from a Pontiac 326 is very hard to get. Very small bore size. It would not be very streetable, and you will spend more $ than a larger Pontiac. Call SD Performance/Butler Performance or other Pontiac experts first just to get some options and opinions.

Great thing about Pontiacs...heaps of torque, and the big cube engines fit exactly where the samll cubes fit...no difference.

Check out Pro-Touring F-body for some well priced 1st gen subframe connectors and solid alloy body mounts.

Pontiacs all use the same block, all that is needed is to bore and stroke it. Toss on a set of KRE heads and I have a 460+ ci car twister. I know your not disrespecting me at all, but I have built 700hp 2.0L honda motors. IMO its not that hard to make 500hp all motor in a V8 if you have all the right components.

Well...not really the "same" black...while they are the same external size and visually look the same, there are some significant casting differences internally between various engine capcities and years.
