      Possible New Product Question

Hey guys I work for a company that is a wholesale manufacture of electronics and wiring harness for the aftermarket. I have been working on building a set of LED taillights to go with my Marquez housing.(they will work in a stock housing also)These are for my 68 Camaro. Now that I have the circuit board finished I would just need to change the shape/ layout to work with any other taillight. What I have so far is a taillight that will allow the user to pick from four different sequential patterns or 1 non-sequential pattern. I would offer them in a set for standard taillights, RS taillights, or Standard with an LED board for your reverse lights as well.

We are trying to build a high quality product with more options than what is currently available while still coming in at a lower cost. I'm just trying to get an idea from you guys what type of market there is for this product before investing a bunch of money into it.

We could also do custom taillights/reverse lights for other vehicles if the interest is there. I would need to build 10 sets or more to make them affordable.

Let me know what you guys think. Also, a few of the sponsors here already retail our products. These would be available from them or if we start doing retail sales on these we will check into becoming sponsors as well.

      Thanks

I really want to go all LED for my 74 Firebird. I would think that you would get some takers here on the site. Feel free to PM me if you get things going.

      Jason,
I would be interested in seeing what you have come up with. I have looked at all the LED options for a 69 Camaro including just the led replacement bulbs. I just don't want the look of a bulb blasting small dots of light. Hopefully with the leds laid out in a circuit board the look you have will be more evenly distributed light. Could you please post some pictures or a video link of the product so we can all see. I think that would sell itself. Coming in at a lower cost never hurts either.

Here are a couple of pictures of my prototypes. The production boards will be white so they won't be seen through the clear reverse lenses. They will also have a standard bulb base on them so they are plug and play. The only cutting and slicing that would be needed is for 12v power if you want to use the sequential option. If you wanted just a standard taillight replacement you would get what you see in the first picture. For RS or standard + reverse lights you would get what you see in the second picture. The RS option is timed correctly so that the two boards work together to make the sequential sequence. Again these are for a 67/68 Camaros. They have 40 LED's per board. For other models the size, shape of the board, and number of LED's may vary, but the functions will be the same.

Jason I'm all for a set as I plan on having LED tail lights with my '68. Probably would stick em in stock housing/bezels.

I had to have 20 phototype boards cut to get these. I can make you a killer deal on a set of phototypes if your interested. The green board can't be seen through the red lenses. If you wanted to run the reverse lights as well I'm sure we could figure something out.

Being that this is a corner of the market I highly deal with, there is a lot to consider when making these, some of which you may not have thought of yet. I have been with Digitails since day 1 and love their product, but there are a number of cars not yet touched still. You are jumping into a flooded market place as I can name 6-8 led tail light companies and probably more. Price point, quality, and marketing will be everything to make it in this field.

I'm converting my wagon to all LED and am unfortunately hacking up existing generic lights to make it work. Seems with updated drivetrains and suspensions LEDs are a natural upgrade. I also like the safety aspect, nothing like super bright LED taillights staring you in the face and maybe preventing a rear end collision, especially if you drive a Duster. ;) J/k...

The G-body wagons and El Caminos are the same, lemme know if you want a donor vehicle. Maybe I can trade you for some of that marketing you'll need. ;)

How about something for 68+ GTO's Unfortunately each year is different & nothing like the Lemans or Chevelles. I have not seen anything for a 68 GTO except for using led bulbs and making your own using led strips.
