      Cited for breaking traction...Really?

Yup, got rolled today for breaking traction. What the heck does that really mean? So my tires chirp taking off, anyone else here cited for a lame reason to pull someone over?

Got a warning once for unnecessary acceleration. That seems more like an opinion to me.

I have been pulled over for scratching 2nd gear, but never cited. The police must be bored if they are pulling people over for that kind of junk.

It's just their way of printing money, by aggressivle ticketing all drivers...

It is still far cheaper than exhibition of speed, or racing..
Sometimes you may check with the prosecutor, they could swap that for a non moving violation, it will still cost you $, but does not get to your insurance Co., and no points...

Got pulled over for excessive acceleration (spinning tires) when I did not. Was running a 3500 stall converter and the guy heard the engine rev up when I left a stop. He was writing the ticket and I said, "If your going to write me a ticket for spinning my tires, at least let me go out and earn it." Ended up the cop stopped writing the ticket and let me off.

Been there, done that. In Florida they now tie that into "Street Racing" which is a criminal offense and carries a MANDATORY 1 year driving suspension. Cost me a bunch of money to get out of it....

It's an "anti-noise violation" here... Oh, and the city has banned "cruising", but thats a another subject.

My older brother spent a night in jail for arguing with a cop about a friends car that chirped tires when he put the car in drive. All this happened on private property too.

I wouldn't worry about it, til they cite you for breaking wind!

People get it all the time around here for "squealing tires".

I was leaving a cruise night in my dad's 565 ci 65 Vette. I rapped the throttle for maybe 1 second. I swear he came out of the woodwork. When he asked if I knew why he had pulled me over I said "because I'm a dumba$$". He gave me a warning because I was honest with him.

Actually there are a number of violations they can get you for. Another one, which I've gotten twice is "unsafe start" First time for accelerating too fast. Load 64 C10. The cop even wrote up my speed as 40 in a 45 mph and told me he was aware I wasn't speeding but had accelerated too fast. Second time was for spinning the tires off the line. That time the ticket showed I was doing 25 in a 25 zone...

Heck Igave cop a chance to get my old yellow Monza to spin a tire, he told me I lit my tires for two city blocks,,,, I got out and told him to get on same road and TRY to break a tire loose, one it was a single track so it it would spin it would have been the right rear only, the tire marks were HALF the width of my tires (figure I had 276/60/15 the marks were about 6 in wide, duh) after cop nearly lost control when car got so good of traction he almost hit his and two other cars as he thought it would get squirrelly and tried t o compensate and pointed it right at his car,, he never bothered me again.

Worst I ever got was for "Failing to stop at a red" when I made a 5mph right turn through a stale yellow. Ticket even says 5mph. ~$560 in CA.

There was a state trooper in our town that drove an unmarked b4c camaro with tinted windows. He'd pull up beside people and rev at them, and then he'd pull them over if they raced away from the stoplights.... lol
