      DSE sub frame

Last year there was alot of talk about aftermarket sub frames, I remember mention of one that was going to be offered by DSE in early 2005 but have seen no more information. I e-mailed DSE with this question over a week ago and still no reply. Does anyone here have any information regarding the status of this product?

Did you try calling them? I can tell you that they are probably so darned busy that it might be really hard for them to reply to e-mails, I can't even keep up with mine these days. I spoke with Kyle at the Good Guy's show, both this year, and last year, at Del Mar. They moved to NC last year late, I am guessing this had a big impact on their overall operations. Anyway, Kyle did state they are coming out with one, but did not give a timeframe. SEMA is only a few months away, lots of folks use this as a time to release new products.

      DSE Frame

I contacted them in May about a new frame. The reply I received was they were looking at later in the year. They didn't give me a whole lot of information on it.

There is one coming out, my car and a few others that they are building will have one. I am not sure when you will be able to order one but you will.

Is there even room for another subframe in the aftermarket? What do we have like...5 companies making them already? I don't see how they hope to be competitive unless they're going to try and beat the other guys on price.

And besides, it appears Wayne's already beat them to it. His OEM frame already accepts the DS&E stuff.

      I don't see the point.

      Tony-
Just wait. This frame will be like no other ever seen before. It doesn't use standard off the shelf control arms like they would sell you for a stock sub, and the coolest part about the frame, is something I can't even say out loud, because I heard about it in a rumor at the PT.com dinner.
When it comes out, it should be pretty impressive. Expensive, but very impressive.

      DSE subframe

It would be like none seen before if it readily accepted a Pontiac engine, had a rack, and accomadated my stock height AFX spindles! I would almost settle for the Pontiac engine and the spindles.

I hope it's that impressive; they're coming too late into the game for it not to be.

I spoke to Stacy about the sub about amonth ago. They started from a clean sheet of paper. Given DSE owner's backgrounds and the quality of their current products, I think it is going to be a big hit. Additionally, she said it would be available with several brake, sway bar, motor mount and trans crossmember options. Priced between 5-6k.
As stated earlier in this thread, if was going to be another sub that utilized components designed for other cars, it probably wouldn't cause that big a stirr.
I don't know a whole lot about the C-5 set ups other than that they are very expensive. Most modern set ups for stock frames aren't cheap and few give you the option of running a rack.

Fatman and Alston are not far behind in price and I don't think they will come close to the new DSE sub.

It all makes me want to cry. I wish Wayne or DSE would be a little more affordable for the average Joe. But, everyone needs to make $$, so I better ask the boss for a raise.

I just wish someone made a direct replacement subframe for the first gen camaro. That's it....period. I don't need the fancy rack and the rails moved in for bigger wheels.

Someone make a direct replacement subframe for a first gen...price it around $1500...and people will bite.

Hell they fab auto rotisseries for less than that. Gimme a fuggin' break already.

If you put aside the issues with the repro bodies, how cool would it be to call dse and order a dse rolling chassis. You could have a repo body with the dse front sub, frame connecters, mini tub, rollbar, etc., all ready to go when it arrived at your driveway...twenty five grand maybe?

I spoke with them this past weekend and they said subframe will be out "soon". I was told they will be launching a new and improved web site also. Sadly, they also said they are booked with projects for next 2 years. :(

I agree with Trapin- just make new, straight, repro front subs, please.

But what I think would be the BEST?!? Put in a removable engine cradle/crossmember. What I wouldn't give right now to be able to drop my pan without removing the entire drivetrain!!
