It is what it is...I was hesitant on buying until I offered $1k seeing that I could at least get that much back in parts. Hell I had 70 shell that was literally a chassis and body w/o wheels and the Flinstone mod on the floor and sold that for $300.

Selling:
12 bolt (70 date code)
Buckets (complet and functional)
Console w/ linkage
Stereo dash pad
Power disc setup
TH350
Solid doors (extra set)
A/C stuff (all controls, ducting, and air box)

Trying to work a deal with my uncle... He's a auto wholesaler and picked up a 70 with no rust but light damage on bottom of pass fender, pass rocker, and bottom corner of driver door. He paid $3700, sold 327 for $650, put in a free 454 he had and wants $10K... He is having the body stuff fixed so maybe I will do the $10K.

May have found a deal on a LS3 with light scoring on one cylinder. As long as it can be fixed with a light bore (.005") I would stroke it.

So chevelle has found a new home... I paid $1,000 + $116 licensing and what not. Sold body/frame for $800 and $300 for the 12 bolt including 10 bolt in exchange. Have the seats and console sold for $650 and still have stereo dash pad and qj carb. So not bad...

Still tempted to buy this LS3 as it is a short block with big cam, intake, fuel rails, and injectors for $1,250.

Having a hard pulling the trigger. He wants more dollar than I believe it's worth.

Probably will buy a Geo Metro or Saab that I can flip for a little profit.

I too seem to have the same problem when I go out to buy a new "old" car... Frikkin rust bucket. And I am willing to spend a bit more for a clean body... Ehh anyway, keep looking! It will come.

Well atleast you didn't get too deep before you had more to loss. I am happy to see you pulled out of it pretty well.

Seattle area...

You may have to drive south but I have seen rollers in northern Ca. that look pretty solid. If anything spending alittle more than planed up front will save you tons of stress and not make you spend money, being in control of what you spend where is great....opening up a can of worms sucks as you have seen already.

Do you have a budget you are trying to stay in? You just need a roller so I would think a budget of $2500-$4000 should get you in a good area of a start depending on how much a roller you find has on it.

Good luck man, sorry to hear about the bad start but it looks like you are turning things around.

I haven't looked beyond Northern Ca. closer to you but I know I have watched a handful of '70s north or Sac. that should be in your budget and a great starter car. If you are willing to drive and haul one home I am sure there are plenty of forum members in areas that see this pop up that if you get a couple you would like to get scouted out before you drive a long ways you could get help. I don't know what others think but from the sounds of your project ahead I think your budget of $5k for a car to start with is pretty good.

Well car is delivered to new home and man the chick that bought it is hot! Had a tri-5 Art Morison chassis in the shop and a low 10 sec street driven GTO. Well best wishes to them...
