      70 LSxChevelle Build

Well I have the car now...unless I catch a deal soon on a more solid car. Picked this car up for $1,000. Original A/C car with power front disc, buckets, auto console and the owner swapped a 12 bolt in unknowingly (to fix his broke 10 bolt). Car is rough.... Will need both quarters, trunk filler panel, rear tail panel, all new front. I bought a title with parts!

      Short term plan:
Fix rust and get body in black primer with new bumpers to look 'good'
Swap in 6.0L with LS3 heads, intake, and healthy bump stick

      Long term:

      Drivetrain/suspension-
      Rebuild/stroke 6.0L (forged low comp)
Positive atmospheric pressure via Kenne Bell 3.6?? (considering other options including TT)
      T56 or Tremac 6060
      Art Morrison GT-Sport chassis
      Kore3 C6 Z06 front brake kit for C6 hub
      Kore3 C6 Z06 rear brake kit w/ parking brake for 9"

      Appearance/Interior-
Anvil carbon hood (painted with some revealed)
      Black or body colored bumpers
      Carbon diffuser
      Carbon front lip
      Shaved drip rails
      5th Gen Camaro seats? Front/Rear
SS Dash wrapped w/ matching fabric
Autometer gauges and built in touchscreen (linked to car pc and audio system)

Been there and doing it right now what your planning. I hate to tell you unless you got some money set aside and lots of time/skills I would strip car for certain parts to sell and move on. I bought SS Chevelle looked a little better then yours but once I got it home and apart then blasted I honestly paid way to much. I know if I would of bought a malibu I would probably be riding down road by now. But if you wanna learn alot, got a place for it and for it to be blown apart and good bit of cash then I say go for it! I did and still working on it ( but others things come up in life right now) I have learned alot and had some best of tmes with 2 friends working on it.Brandon

Well, I still regret selling my rustbucket '72 Cutlass S, so I say keep it and go for it. Get the pieces repaired one at a time - it will be a challenge, but not impossible.

It is certainly an ambitious undertaking but if it is what you have then go for it. Blow it apart and reassess the situation once you have the full perspective of what needs to be done. If it looks like what you are interested in taking on go for it, if it is more than you honestly feel you can handle then you part it out and probably get more than you paid for it back. Hell, the 12bolt alone will net you 300-500 back pretty easy depending what's in it.

      Good luck

Might want to consider a replacement shell

Unless you are planning on doing all of your own body work (and know what you are doing), you might consider putting that title on a replacement Dynacorn body. Definately not a $6k car, but at least you won't have to deal with replacing rusty panels on the main shell.

Well I have a good body guy coming to check it out. I may even tack the qtrs myself. Ialready plan on building a custon trunk pan regardless of rust and do some wheel tub mods to fit a 335's in the ass.

Total seperate not, I just bought a LS3 intake w/ rail and 42lb Z06 injectors for $250. I also forgot I had a set of truck manifolds so I may even start with a DIY single turbo.

It's probably going to cost more in the long run to fix that than to buy one already in decent shape, but best of luck to you. At least if you start with this you don't have to worry about messing anything up and you can do what you want to it. Sounds like a lot of transmission.

I ran into the same thing when searching for my car. I just did not want to deal with a lot of body work and all the cars with decent bodywork (even Malibus) were over
10K. I just been searching off and on for about 10 years found one SS clone about 5 years ago for 13K that had a nice body but a lot of body work of unknown quality and I could see rust bubbling up under the paint behind the rear wheels and across the lower rocker panels. So I passed. Decided to just focus on finding any rust free two door Malibu didn't care about color or engine or interior just rust free straight body and I was budgeting 18K for it. Still took a while but I found a very nice Malibu. Was a green 6 cyl Malibu that was converted to an SS in the early 90s. Paint was amazing compared to what I have seen before. Behind the doors was all clear no rust behind any of the panels. I checked everywhere. Removed the vents in the door sill and looked into the rear quarters and just light surface rust. I was amazed. I wanted it bad. It had **** for motor and trans and an OK interior but a hacked up dash and console. Asking price was 21K. The body work did it for me I paid the guy 21 for it. The exterior is just flawlessly beautiful floor pans same way nice painted. The paint job is pushing 20 years old and still looks incredible so I know the paint will hold up as it will always be kept in a garage. I fixed up the interior last year (SS dash, Z06 seats, Morris seat belts, carpet, panels etc) interior looks nice now. Now I can focus on the drive train, suspension, brakes and wheels, all the fun stuff. Sorry for rambling but if I were you I'd part that out and start with something a little farther along.
