      65 GTO LS1 "Carbon Copy"

Well, after a 4 year build I am currently using the 65 as the daily driver. This car started out as a Tempest that was white with a blue top( painted). My brother, Darryl, started the car in March 05, but passed away in May 05 after just starting the project. He did get the LS1 motor and tranny mounted and removed most of the interior .Took me until August of 07 to get the car across country from CA to RI (no will, probate blah blah blah) I decided to go complete frame off and build the car the best I could. I am not an autotech (I build boats) but I figured how hard could it be??????? Um yeah, as a lot of you know building a car IS hard. I had my fair share of trouble but persevered and am happy with the results.
A partial list of what went into her : 02 LS1 from Camaro ss with 6 speed, Eaton posi unit 3.55 gears,Global West control arms, QA1 coil overs, front disc conversion, 06 GTO seats
Since I build carbon race boats for a living I decided to make some carbon parts for the car
the grill surround, fuel rail covers, dash, grab bar, center console, rear center console and sub woofer enclosure, sail panels ,package tray, rear trim panel.
The car has been very well received, drives great, not to bad on gas (unless I get a heavy foot)
Thanks again to all who have given me even the smallest amount of help on this forum. I finally got around to taking some nice pics and hope you like em.

Beautiful work. I bet you could make a few bucks off of that CF work. There are not nearly enough real CF parts for classic and muscle cars.

I think would be killer add to this build - a carbon fiber steering wheel!

Take the wood bits off - make a mold of them - throw it in a vaccum bag & add heat!
