      Chevelle trans

I am putting a 406 sbc in my buddies 71 Chevelle, he had a m-20 saginaw in it I think. We tried to put in a super T10 until his RS500 is shipped from Keisler (2 months). My question is the super T10 wouldn't bolt right in, we couldn't get the cross member in. Are the tail shafts and mounts different, what about the crossmember mount? Do they make a Saginaw that was fine spline?
any help would be great, thanks

I don't believe that there was ever a fine spline Saginaw transmission. As for the T10, it might have slightly different mounting points than the Saginaw, but that should be easy. Just drill new holes in the frame where the crossmember bolts up.

It's not at the frame it's at the mount, I can't get the trans any higher to get the crossmember under it, I tried using the mount that was on the saginaw. I thought they were all the same.

I just put a muncie in a 72 Olds, so very similar.....
M20 muncie, or is it actually a saginaw?
Is the shifter assembly attached? If so, which did you use?
What's hitting the tunnel, tail, bell housing, etc....
Forget about trying a saginaw, way too weak even for a 350.

I pulled the T10 out, it was a pos. We are trying to get a m21 that works, and get a Chevelle shifter to get it on the road until the RS500 comes or he gets fed up and gets a TKO500 and cuts the tunnel.

We couldn't get the trans high enough, I will try with the m21 without the shifter.
