      Ls2 72 chevelle

I purchased a ls2 trailblazer engine and am now thinking about doing fuel injection over my initial plan of making it simple and doing carb. My question is i know i need the fbody accessory setup correct? I want to get a ls6 intake because this trailblazer intake is ugly. Can i use the stock throttle body that came with my engine or will i need a new one with the ls6 intake? Also what else will i need besides intake and accessory drive system? I will not be using ac either. Any info would be great since i am a ls newb!

I've been researching about swap parts etc alot and I really am just finding alot of camaro swap info etc. I am on a tight budget so i don't want to have to spend the 400 duckies on a autokraft pan etc if i can get away with using a stock gm pan. It is going into a 72 chevelle btw thanks

You might find more answers at LS1tech, but I'm doing a 72 Olds Cutlass now, so I'll give it a shot.
You can run the truck accesories, I am. The easiest solution to the AC compressor is to move it up rather than trying to squeeze the crossmember between the oil pan and compressor.
You might have interference issues with the power steering pulley. If so, a smaller pulley is $15. F body acc have alternator clearance issues too.

I'm running a LS1 intake with the 05 truck TB. Your TB will be a 4 bolt (I think), LS1/6 is 3 bolt, you'll need an LS2 intake to use the current 4 bolt TB.
Oil pan, Moroso makes one that looks good for about $300. Others have used the CTS-V if the engine is pushed back to the original trans mating site.
Exhaust, F body is supposed to work and cheap. I'm also testing a GTO becaust it flows really wel.

Are you using a truck acc with a car water pump? did you use spaced or what water pump is that?

Long story. I was going to use the L92 water pump. I did not realize the 05 TB was so much bigger than the 07+ TB.
So I was going to use an LS1 pump and spacers but I had a spare LS1 pump with truck pulley. I put that together for my 68 corvette swap where I needed the front pump outlet, but wanted to keep a mechanical fan.

Just to clarify I have no intentions on running AC. Basically I just need to know if I want to swap to a car intake ls2 ls6? What do I need to aquire besides intake manifold? Do I need new fuel rails injectors etc? Do I need to change my water pump to allow for my TB ss TB on a ls2 intake? Sorry for Do many dumb questions, but like I said I am on a tight budget and only want to buy things once.

Let us know what year it is, if it's a 4 bolt TB and what style injectors. Pics are worth a thousand words.
      A similar swap.

Not quite sure on the year of the motor? Any markings I can look for to tell me? Its a 4 bolt TB. And the injectors are just stock? Thanks

No spacers on my water pump. I swapped pulleys. Spacers are on ebay, search for LS1 water pump and you'll find them.

      Ok, my best guess.
Keep the accessories you have, get an idler relocation kit from Dirty Dingo.
Get an LS2 intake, swap your TB. Use the original rails and injectors. If they're standard injectors, see if they fit as is. If they dont seat all the way, try removing the plastic collar around the bottom of the injector. There's a link on performancetrucks.net regarding this issue on an LS6 intake swap.
If they're flex fuel injectors, you'll be fine.
The fuel rail will still stick up quite a ways, so you can get an aftermarket like mine on ebay for $99.
If your TB is 07+, you can use an L92 water pump (I have a new one for sale if you need it, 1/2 price). If it's an earlier TB, get an LS1 water pump and 3/4" spacers off ebay.
The other possibility is to clean up your truck intake.

If you have an LS2 with the 4 bolt throttle body, then you should use a car LS2 intake.

Ok thanks. I guess ill just stay on the cheap side and leave the truck intake on it for now. I just read somewhere that it wont fit under stock hood? So not quite sure on what mounts to use foe that problem yet. My car is an ss so its got the stock cowl I'm wondering g if that makes a difference?

The truck intake might fit ok.
As for mounts, take a picture of your crossmember and fram mount location.
I just went through this swapping chevelle mounts into my 442.

The waterpump pulley solution is just what I needed to know. I'm gathering parts for a 5.3 Carb'd conversion and plan on running the truck pulley's with the Kwik Performance A/C relocation bracket and wanted to change out the waterpump for a Car pump, but didn't want to use spacers. Perfect....Thanks. I'm running a rack and pinion so I don't have to worry about the P/S pulley. You can always use the KwiK Performance Alt/P/S bracket if you don't like the truck stuff.
I have a unused CTS-V pan,Pickup, Windage tray etc off a crate motor if interested. I'm Using a Milodon Road race pan, so I won't be using it.

Getting the pulley off the truck pump only requires a 3 jaw puller. Note the distance from the block mating surface before you remove it so the new pulley is aligned correctly. Getting the pulley off the LS1 pump requires a special jig or just butcher the old pulley with a cutoff wheel like I did.
When you press on the new pulley, remove the rear cover and support the back of the shaft only with a small socket. Pressing it on without doing that will simply push the shaft/impeller down in the pump (I practiced on an old pump to find that out, lol).
I'm still deciding on which pan. I just got my chevelle 307 frame mounts bolted in today and I need to check clearance with the crossmember and steering.
How much for the CTS-V pan?
