      Bucket Lists

This topic has come up alot lately. I know there is a thread somewhere about it, but I can not find it anymore so I thought I would start another one.
Bucket list is that list of things you want to do before you "Kick the Bucket". We all have one, some more ambitious than others, but all important to each of us.
I will start, and yes, fortunately, I have been able to check off several.

      1. Experience Bonneville during Speed week there - check, thanks Bob Johnson
      2. Fly an airplane (solo) - Check, even though I crashed before I got my license, I managed to live though it.
      3. Own a magazine car - Check, in fact, I have been lucky, done this one twice
      4. Buy a motorhome and travel around the country on a six month cruise - Still waiting
      5. Do something in a foreign country for the good of man - Check, helped build a church in Brazil
      6. Attend a F-1 Race in Monaco - waiting
      7. Go to Sturgis and Daytona for bike week - check, several times
      8. Visit all the National Parks in the US - about 1/4 of the way through this one
      9. Run for Public office - Check, did not win, but great experience
      10. Own a 1970 Superbird, original 426/four speed blue

These are in no particular order, but all have been on my list for many years. I am working my way thru pretty good.
This is harder than you think, try to list 10

      1. Build a car from the frame up. Check.
      2. Have my car featured in a magazine. Check.
      3. See the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series one more time. Things are looking up, but no joy in 2010.
      4. Pay off my mortgage. No check. No way.
      5. Take my car on a road race course. Check, check, check, check. More checks coming.
      6. Have my way with Ellen Barkin. Uh, no chance.
      7. Learn to play the guitar. (well enough so the dog doesn't run and hide). Maybe that's the key to number 6?
      8. Retire from my mind-numbing corporate gig with my wits and health intact. Still possible. The health part anyway.
      9. Work on a car project with any of my kids. That's a negative so far.
      10. Own a Ferrari or a Ford GT. Maybe someday.

I've never made one. But I came into this life naked and screaming. I'd like to leave the same way, preferably with a Swedish girl named Inga!

Become a serious player in the automotive aftermarket.

Push the industry in directions that noone else has imagined.

Make that paper. Invest it successfully.

Retire with my health and build my dream house--half downtown penthouse, half high-end race shop.

Own a small, successful winery in italy. Run a small hotel onsite. Serve dinner to the hotel guests each night, family style. Have at least one travel magazine declare it "One of Italy's Best Kept Secrets!"

Build my own airplane or sailboat. Or both.

      BUT FIRST:

Finish getting my masters in automotive engineering at one of the nation's premier automotive research facilities. One semester left 'till this one gets a check, at least!

pretty short list i guess, i actually feel pretty good about where i am in my life, im sure there is a few things that i'll figure i really need to do before i bite it, but for except one, i'd be ok with it

have one, one big one, really working on it and making huge progress towards it

break the 200 mile an hour average speed over a short distance, 90 miles to be exact, dont want a trophy or anything else for that matter, dont really care about any of the glory......i just want to be able to do it absolutely wide open....

Not to depress anyone but just to make you think about this, 7 months ago my mom was in good health at only 49 years old, 4 weeks ago we found out she has cancer. I just got a call from my dad its stage 4, in her colon, lymph nodes, liver, bones, basically all over. The doctors give her a year to live at best. She did have a bucket list, and was living it out, but she will fall short by a lot, found this out a week before SEMA, where she had planned to buy a 2010 SS Camaro in silver with black stripes and drive it to the show.

You never know when your time is up, live life to the fullest every day. Act on these dreams.
