Today I was at Lowe's picking up some bolts, and a woman approached me about her sister's car (I was wearing a Bulldawg shirt). Seems she has a '74 Javelin AMX, black on black, that was her late husband's, and its now for sale. I'm going to check it out Thursday if anyone's interested. She said it needed some brake work (which we are going to do), but that it ran and drive nice otherwise. Sorry for the hijack, back to the thread! Just thought it was funny to see a similar car here the same day.
If you go look at it, let me know what shape it's in. If it's a 401 car 4 speed car, very rare!

Coloradoamx builds incredible AMX's at home! I'm jealous!

Torquedork has been doing a great job keeping the string updated with the changes I have made to the Silver Bullet, especially the Control Freaks IFS with Flaming River rack and pinion. What a change it made to the car. It's perfectly stable and smooth at over 120 mph. The Afco coil overs and racing ball joints are a huge upgrade from the stock springs, shocks, and ball joints.

Probably one of the biggest improvements is the Milodon roadrace pan. It fits much better than the Canton roadrace pan, especially where the external oil bung is located in connection with the headers. Now I need to get it on the track to prove out the improvements.

A friend had bought one of these in high school to try to break into the car scene. I used to tease that it was the ugliest "sporty" car AMC ever built. Now you've gone and made me look the fool, lol! VERY VERY nice!!!! I dig everything about it!

That's funny but in some ways true. They can kind of be a "Borderline" car if not done right! They have too much front end overhang ahead of the front wheels but they can look really cool when set up like the coloradoamx Bullet!

That is one fantastic car!! They were ahead of their time. Those exaggerated fenders fit right in with many of today's cars. It is nice to see something different and beautiful

Looks great. A really nice colour choice as well. As a kid, I liked the 2 seaters, better, but yours is proof the 4 seaters look just as good, if not better!

The later AMX's had a personality all their own with a unique look and some unique attributes. The color was a great choice for this particular body style. Here are some new details of those unique elements:

Factory fiberglass cowl induction hood, wire mesh grille screen and good looking T Stripe

The '73's and '74's had Corvette style taillight pods.

      Non Factory Seats

Dash. Engine Turned panel replaced by Carbon Fiber. Complete Gauges are Factory.

      Well Done Engine Compartment

Also congrats on the car being featured on a Pro/Touring style Calendar for 2012

So a javelin can look insanely good after all! Makes me wish I didn't pass up a sweet deal on one a few years ago! Killer ride man!

From the looks of the last photo you sent, looks like you got your Helwige sway bar for the front.

      Looks good!

Got a rear shot from Coloradoamx the other day so thought I'd post it.

Also, if you have a Car Quest Auto Parts store in your area, Check and see if they have any 2012 calendars. Several forum members can be found on it.

The "Silver Bullet" is what keeps me inspired to get the Hornet finished. Just Amazing Craftsmanship!

Thought I'd post this update for Coloradoamx.

He had retired for a bit and took on a '70 Mark Donohue project for a guy in California. He then went back to work and still managed to turn this Duck into a Swan in about 6 months.

By request from the owner, it is a mild Resto/Mod Pro/Touring style car in the same color as Colorado's Silver Bullet and some elements of his car The Crush. It is lowered slightly with coilovers in front, Wilwood 4 wheels disc brakes and a tweaked stock looking 390. ColoradoAMX does some amazing work at home with the exception of paint and bodywork.

      AFTER

ENGINE/ Stock look 390 AMC but well tweaked internals

This car looks amazing!! It looks like a rare, Italian exotic, but better yet, it is an American exotic considering how rare these are, especially done like this!! Nice job!
