Why did you weld the front of the yellow end to the front end of the white 96?

Its hilarious you got your SRA back.... with a cobra attached.

Since you got rid of the 2v motor - whats going in the 66/96/01 irs Frankenstein?

If you look closely I grafted about 12" of frame rail, but essentially the strut towers are now 6.75" farther forward. This matches the 96 and 66 wheelbases. I needed the chunk of yell frame rail because it has the mounting points for the steering/suspension K-member and the front sway bar. I was able to keep the factory mounting points and keep the engine where it needs to be, back against the firewall. This way I didn't need to fab up mounting brackets for the engine mounts. I can go back later and make a single K-member using these two as reference. It help to understand if you look at what was cut away and what was added and how. I know it's confusing, it took a lot of figuring out to get that to work.

Oh snap.... Cobra engine w/ IRS... NICE!!!

Didnt know you'd be willing to part out a Cobra for this project.

Is the Cobra all busted up and beat?

It has a bad divers side head, but I have a replacement. The Cobra has a bent frame and I got it pretty much for the price of the Engine and tranny.

      Wow, you are a crafty!
      Nice collection of cars!
So here's a dumb question: Will this be a hardtop or a convert?
I'm guessing hardtop, because you'd pretty much have to track down all the 66 convert mechanisms, etc.

Thanks, I try to save as many as I can. I'm keeping it a hardtop, you are right, tracking down all the vert pieces is more than I want to do.

VERY NICE!! I loved the back and forth from old to new, Then they meet! I remember reading that SN-65 article with my jar on the ground. This is awesome.

Hey throw up some more pics of the flare job on the yellow 66 when you get a chance. I flared the front on my 67 and would like to see how you did the back!

Keep us posted, its freaking amazing!!

Wow, I've been away for a while. Oct 2010 I took a job in Iraq. June 2011 I transitioned to Afghanistan. Live and projects have been on hold but I'm getting close to revisiting this project. I'm in Afghanistan now, should be home for an extended stat April 2015.

      I love it.
I've had experience with the same cars. very similar man, that's good karma..
progress so far is looking good. this stage is a lot of dirty work. your comment about doubling time estimates is so true!
Adding a terminator to the build is going to be sweet. I really toyed with that idea myself.

Life happens man! stay safe while working over Seas.
