Fuel Line Fitting Assembly Lube, Hardware Store Equivalant?

Is there something I can get at the hardware store that's the same stuff as this assembly lube?

I wish they made an installation tool, these things are a PITA to get seated all the way on the hose.

      Thanks,
      Nick

On regular AN line I use straight dishwashing liquid. Never tried it on a pushlock style fitting.

Not sure of the dynamics, but I use white lithium grease to put mine together. I have used it on both fuel and oil lines with no issue.

Tried some gear lube, still hard to slide on all the way, but doable.

      Thanks!

A dab of engine oil, but more importantly, place the fitting against a vertically mounted piece of wood (door frame of shop) line up hose, and push in one continuous motion. For the 90 deg fittings, I use a vise.

They do make a tool and it is dang near impossible without it. It has handles like a pair of pliers and you set the fitting in and it pushes the hose on. I can't remember where I bought mine but it is plastic and every time I use it I wonder if it is going to break but it never does.

Aeroquip also makes a proper assy lubricant that I use but before that I just grabbed a can of wd-40.

      Here is the tool.

You put the fitting on the left side and put the hose in the right side, squeeze the right side to hold the hose then push it together. An important thing to remember is once you start don't stop because it seems twice as hard to move it again.
