Nothing at all to be ashamed of. I went through close to the same thing 1 year ago. Lost my job on a Tuesday. My 2nd son is born the very next morning. But, I was able to find a job the very week my wife went back to work from maternity leave. And similar to you, I got a state job. You may not get filthy rich, but in times like these just having a job with those kind of benefits is like gold. If i hadn't taken this job, who knows when something else may have come up.

Robert's 1969 Camaro - 2002 LS1/T56, 10pt cage, Global West Stage III front suspension, HTH truck arm rear suspension, Sprint Cup 9" full-floating rear end, Fikse Mach V 17" up front 18" in the back and still working on it...

I know most didn't even know that'd I'd joined the many that lost their jobs due to the economy, I'd kept it on the DL, cause frankly, I was ashamed of it. My wife and I both lost our jobs, and our home in back in Feb. We'd had to move in with my dad, who's having a pretty hard time getting around now due to his age and illness (parkinsons) So I decided to try and find work in my home town of Yuba City.

Yuba City if you didnt know just won the dubious honor of being voted the worst place in the US to live. Mainly due to the insane unemployment rate. So, trying to find a job in this town is downright impossible. But, as fate would have it, I not only found a job, but the best possible job i could ever hope to find for my skill set. I work for the county. Taking care of county housing. Im really excited and happy about it and had to share. Miracles do happen. Stay positive and good things happen. My family SO needed the benefits that come with a county job.

So, thanks for reading, I just had to tell somebody!
Congrats, man. I am a firm believer in postive attitude. No matter how dire things get, keeping a good attitude, things seem to work themselves out and sometime for the better.

Congrats Tony! Times are wierd right now. Housing is down, foreclosures up. No loans, limited consumer spending. Limited job growth and lots of people sittin' on the bench. Crazy sh*t going down from DC to Sacto. The old economic model is stuck in sideways, slightly down. And through it all, here we are engrossed in a hobby that takes a boatload of disposable income. Not to mention, project budgets that double quicker than you can read this post.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I hope for all our sakes we hear less of these stories and nothin but good news in the coming year or two.

      Take care,

      Ron

Sorry you had to go through that Tony, I had a similar experience during the dotcom crash in 2001. Keep the faith and something good will almost always happen. Congrads!

Congrats on the new job! It's great to see a 'positive' job post in this economy every now and then.
