      C5/LS1 interchangability

im starting to gather the parts for my C5 calipers onto my s10. ive got 16 inch wheels that i would like to retain.

with that being said, i was told that the Ls1 brakes clear 16 inch wheels. (IROC Camaro). i have Ls1 rotors, C5 calipers and abutment brackets.

i know the LS1 cars use different calipers and brackets, but the same pads. i heard somewhere that the LS1 brackets will mount the C5 calipers without a problem, thereby allowing the use of the smaller rotor and clearing my wheels. is this true?

also been told that all the 99-02 camaros and firebirds use the same front brakes. is that true as well?

      thanks
      Michael

Michael, all of the 98-02 F-bodies use the same brakes. You can run C5/C6 caliper bodies in the LS1 pad abutments if you like since the pin spacings are the same, however the pads are not the same between the two...close, but not identical (FMSI Specification for C5/C6 = D731/D732 front/rear, LS1 = D749/D750 front/rear ). We usually suggest running the pads that match the abutments for best results.

Just FYI, Kore3 also has an adapter now for the Blazer divorced hub setup to run the C5/C6 brakes. Not sure if that interests you or not, but I prefer to run the divorced setup and will be converting mine soon to the C5/C6 setup, for now it's the dual piston Blazer brakes.
