      Pics of rotor mod on 72 camaro for C5 rotors

      Im in the process of doing the C5 brakes on my friends 72 camaro and would like to see what has to be done on the stock camaro rotor to fit the C5 rotor. Any other pics would be great to see as well. I have done all the research on my 70 chevelle and the 72 camaro looks very similar but just want to be sure. Also do you have to do the 3/16" spacer on the rear 10 bolt of the camaro to run the 4th gen rear disc set-up?

      x2 - a list of links on where to get front hubs would be helpful, too. The price range on these things is pretty wide!

      Gen-3 F-body machined to be used for hubs. If you use the 2-gen rotors the wheel will come to far out. Some mor info on my cardomain site

      The GMF3 rotors are about 5/16" narrower than the original GMF2 rotors, so when you factor in the ~.30" C5/C6 front rotor hat thickness, the net track width change per side is less than 1/32" narrower.

      You can use your GMF2 hubs, you'll just have to space out the caliper accordingly to align with the rotor position and take that additional track width into consideration when purchasing/fitting wheels and tires.

      I forgot that the GMF3 rotor works! I might just spring for the Kore3 AL hubs though. It would be nice to loose the weight.

      Tobin - know if the GMF3 hub dimensions are the same as the Kore3's? Reason being that I'd like to use the GMF3 hubs for the build, and then spring for the AL hubs later on.

      Yes, the KORE3 GMTS hubs have the same flange offset relative to the inner wheel bearing as a GMF3 hub/rotor...coincidence? I think not. I would like to add though that certain GMF3 hub/rotor castings are more conducive to modifying for hubs than others due to the material distribution around the wheel stud holes. Just FYI, we've had several customers have issues with some of the cheapest castings cracking upon installation of wheel studs as the castings were very thin between the wheel studs holes and the outer periphery of the hub flange, so be conscious of your particular casting and wheel stud press fits if you choose to go this route.

      I had issues with the first set i machined. They where thin castings and the holes for the wheel studs where bigger than the holes on the GM rotors. If you use GM rotors you can use Dorman studs for Hummer. If you prefer using rotors and machining them use GM rotors.
      I will buy hubs from Torbin if I shall do this convension again.

      What are GMF3 and/or GMF2 hubs? I have been wandering about the hubs that I drove out of my stock 67 pontiac drums. Can I machine them down to use with KORE 3 brakes?

      If I properly followed along....

      GMF2 = 2nd gen F-Body rotors
      GMF3 = 3rd gen F-Body rotors.

      Cut down to just hubs so the vette rotors fit over. Like a 1st gen drum hub.

      Big thing is some cars had odd outer bearing sizes on spindle (found a Camaro with one of each small and large outer bearing diameter and a Caprice with similar issue, I am wondering about boo boo by GM parts dept from previous wreck damage.

      Monza has it right...GMF2 and GMF3 are personal short hand to designate body and generation. Sorry for any confusion.

      As for the outer wheel bearings, the SET2 (.750 ID x 1.782 OD) and SET34 (.844 ID x 1.782 OD) are interchangeable, so you should be able to accomodate either the .750 or .844 spindles just as long as you aren't trying to use a hub/rotor designed for the larger SET3 (.844 ID x 1.969 OD) outer wheel bearing used on the 88-92 1LE Camaro and 91-96 B/D-Body applications.

      There is so much handy info - and we can see by clicking on "spindle shaft diameter" (under the AL hub section) just exactly what the bearing differences are.

      I'll pick up a gen 3 hub so I can mock up these monster 14" rotors, so I'll know that this will all work out o.k. (and THEN place my order for Tobin's hubs!)
