      Another DBW vs Cable throttle

I've searched through a lot of old threads about "how to" set up cable throttles but I didn't see much info about Pros and Cons of each.

I don't know of much actually, but I've heard that DBW has a shorter throw on the pedal than the cable type, thus making it a bit more sensitive to drive.

Anyone know of any Pros / Cons for either method?

The DBW pedal is very smooth and consistent. This is so because the gas pedal doesn't have a cable to pull. It just has an internal spring. This makes driving the car very smooth. The other advantage of DBW is that its almost impossible to stall the car. I can cruise in just about any gear with my foot off the throttle and the ECU will modulate the throttle to keep the engine from dying. Makes creeping in traffic very easy.

The only disadvantage I have heard is that some guys that bracket race report inconsistency when launching.

DBW install is much cleaner under the hood.

DBW, you can easily reverse the intake or mount the TB any way you want.

Can cruise control be retro-fitted when using a stock-type PCM and DBW? It would mean having a switch on the brake pedal, but it would be really cool if it could be done without too much fuss.

I believe that the C5's have DBW, and hence cruise control.

don't think dbw came into effect until the ls2...could be wrong though.

I too have been thinking about using the dbw and a vss and seeing if I could get cruise control up and running...

I REALLY like my dbw pedal, though--it is indeed cleaner, and eliminates all of the idle air system of earlier ls engines--which in practice makes very little difference, but I appreciate simplicity.

Finding matching pedals seems to be a bit of a hassle, though.

There are DBW LS1 Vettes. Maybe 04 GTO? Not sure on the GTO.

Yes there are 24x DBW LS1/6/2's and cruise control is a snap.
