I talked to Bob earlier. On the first attempt, they missed the record by 1/4 mph.
The exciting part was when he pulled the chute. The car got all squirrelly and got sideways with him, scuffed up the salt, etc. He did not hurt anything but did have to go back thru inspection because of the spin. They are trying to figure out what happened with the chutes.

Be safe Bob and bring home the record. You too Chicane!

Way to go Chicane. I was there half Friday and all day Saturday. The Mariani Farms A/G street roadster blew the 237 record to a new record of 255 (249 and 259 run). Dang! Lots of good stuff. Wish I could be there all week. I'm back at work today.

      Here's a quicky blog I did:
      http://www.myrideisme.com/Blog/speed...es-homecoming/

Update: Just got off the phone with Dallas Volk ( 2 club member) and Land Speed Racing lost a driver yesterday. It was a modified Coupe (real narrow black/grey with scallops) that has been going out there for years and has many records. Sorry I don't have the name.

      From the SCTA website....
      08/09/09:

Officials of the Bonneville Nationals Inc. report that Barry Bryant, 46, from Anderson, California, died after competing at the speed trials on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

The accident occurred at 5:55 p.m. when his racing vehicle went out of control while traveling approximately 200 mph.

He was transported by ambulance off the race track to Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

Race Officials were informed that Bryant died before arriving at the Medical Center.

Here's a pic of his ride:

Well... On a more positive note...

Four runs... Three days and four trips to impound... With another title shot in the morning. And that's just with the 2 car... I haven't been in the pits to check on the other cars yet today.

Talked to Bob... He explained the Caddy run... Wow... That had to have been one wild ride !!

      More later...

I got off the phone with Bob earlier. He has reset the record he is going after at 245, but has to back it up in the morning, they are in impound now. Another car is right behind him at 244 so both could have the record tomorrow, it depends on which is faster really.
Bob said he slowed down to about 175 before pulling the chutes and all was good at that speed.

Third out this morning... This should be our hat trick for the 2 car. We put 14 mph on the record in the heat of the day yesterday... And right now its about 58*F with excellent DA...

The 832 was blowing the tires off going thru third at about 195 mph and climbing... just think, we shut it off at the 3 marker with 4 more available miles and another gear. The standing record is 201... So... I think a soft shifted 4th, three more miles and 7500 rpm should get us into impound solidly in the 2's for another record tomorrow morning.

Can't wait to see Bob step his up too. The Caddy made a solid run yesterday... And with only 1 mph between him and the next closest competetor... Its gonna be REAL interesting here int the next 20 minutes. Go get it Bob...

What is it (info) that you want to know ?

Well... I did another "class change" on the 2 car and just put it into impound... Again. Problem is... Its 300 bones everytime I do a class cjange. Oh well... Its worth the four records.

True- one of our club members has a belly tank with a squirreled Subaru... Ill see if I can get some pics off of my desktop when I get home. Its worthy of and has run 2 plus... But its none cheaper to run and/or maintain. Sean's tanker is complete artwork... I hope I have pics of the chassis and paintwork.

I talked to Bob. He did not back up his record setting run from yesterday. They uped the timing by 2 degrees, and when it got on the pipe, the car spun. He did not even finish the first mile. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day, go Bob.

Getting ready to roll out to the line at 7am. This will be our "hat trick" -plus one- for the 2 car.

We tried to "hot lap" the 832... Which didn't work to our favor, at all. So... Since its like 58*F and the DA is still good... I think the ECU flash should do much better in the morning air.

And... I am hoping Bob gets 'er done today and gets back into impound this morning. Its sure would be nice for the team as Bob and the boys have worked hard to get it done.

Hopefully... We'll all be either in inspection or going to impound in the next hour.

      More later...
