      Speedweek 2009

So, anybody going to make it out to the Salt!? Speedweek starts racing this Saturday, August 8th and goes for a whole week. I'm lucky, I live about 2 hours from the Salt Flats. I'll be taking tons of pics and camping out at the "bend in the road".
Just wondering if any PT/Gmachine folks are going. It's one of those events you have to see before you die, that's if you're a real gear head.
      Chris

Mods, just realized, this may fit better in the Off Topic or Events, not sure. Move it where it fits, thanks.

Cool. Good to see some PT forum members making it to the Salt. Here's a few more pics I took last year at Speedweek.

Crazy "push vehicle". This Caddy was pushing his buddies at the starting line. Wow! This got a lot of attention.

My old beach cruiser. The pits are huge. A bicycle is a great way to see the "car show" within.

One of my favorite rods our there.

1 day and a wake up and I'll be on the Salt. Otherwise known as the "great white dyno". ha ha

      That is the plan True.

The more people I can give the "Fever" to the better. I'd love to see some PT cars make 200mph runs down the white stuff. There's also a 130mph and 150mph Club on a shorter course off to the side. Shorter being a relative term, since the Long Course is 7 miles.

I think I got the fever. I recentlly joined the ECTA and will be in Bonneville this Monday for the first time. I will not have my car but I will stil be there taking pics and soaking it all in. I will hopefully get my car there some time in my life....

I've been here since thursday... So far we have had the best conditions in years. Our first run put us in impound... So its one record down, three to go with the 2 car... And have to do a head gasket on the 'half motor' car (832) to get it in the books this year as well. I think were running on a 197 record and this configuration should get the 832 back in the book, hopefully somewhere in the 225 to 230 mark.

We shall see... Its only the first day of competition.

On a side note... The Potete and Main 'Demon' ran 394'ish out the back of the trap on a quote-end-quote "check out" run. Needless to say the gauntlet has been thrown down in the streamliner class... With six days of racing left. It should be a huge year... The weather is perfect, temp when we ran at 11am was 67*F with a density altitude we haven't seen here in years.

In impound before 8am... Just one more and its a "hat trick" for the 2 car.

Just waiting for Bob to run the Caddy and see if they pull the kid gloves off of the "Demon" and go over 400. I guess its not a question of if... Its more of a question of how far over 400 they go.
