      t56 Slip Yoke Install question.

How far should the slip yoke slide in? I am only getting about 1.5" in before it bottoms out. I know the slip yoke needs to be cleaned inside. Could there by gunk packed into the back of the transmission. Does that rubber seal need to be pull out? Trying to keep as much in tact.

      Thanks in advance

What is the history of the trans? The slip yoke should slide in all the way and move freely. If the output shaft splines or yoke are twisted the yoke will bind. Dirt, grime, or rust will have the same effect. Get a new yoke. Why are you using an old Muncie yoke?

The most obvious issue was the answer. After about 5 minutes on the wire wheel and and another 5 minutes cleaning the inside up it goes in and out freely.

      Thanks
