      Project: "Hers"

The story goes: She kept a 1in by 1 in picture of a 69 mach 1 fastback in her wallet for 2 years. A little square picture from Hotrod mag......I came across a 69 Fastback in the parking lot where I work and spoke to the owner. 4 months later, he called me and needed some quick cash.
The car is a 69 302 auto car, black Ca plates, with air...pretty straight....so I surprised her with it and we have slowly been bringing it back. Last summer, it would be 100+ degrees and she had a choice of a modern car with air or the mustang with non working air....she would drive the mustang.

I put on 13in 6 piston wilwood fronts and 12 in 4 piston rears, late model pony wheels, blocked and cut it....(for now), headers and exhaust. We then added the chin spoiler, the hood scoop and the rear spoiler.

I then decided it was time for the Mach 1 tribute so we took it all apart to send to the body shop

It is the factory color: Calypso Coral. It is a red-orange..but I would say orange red.....they made the Poppy red and Calypso.....Calypso is the more exciting of the two and was used on that year Mach.

Gotcha. I'm not a big fan of reds (except on Ferraris and a Corvette or two) but that color and Mazda's Mazdaspeed3 True Red really draw my eye for some reason.

That's so awesome of you. Not many guys would do something like that!

I agree though, get her some A/C in that thing, and maybe some EFI to make driving it easier, and slightly better milage! There's nothing quite like starting it up every time, without fail with EFI.

You are hanging out with the wrong guys. ;)

My wife tolerates my projects and lack of garage space ~6 months out of the year. It is the least I can do. I've agreed to build her a weekend ride when I'm done with this project. I think we've picked something like the FFR '33 Roadster.

Just the fact she's willing to become a little interested in my hobby is pretty cool.

Well, she kept a picture of the car in her wallet for 2 years, what was I supposed to do.....and I got it for a great price. It has slowed down my project, but it is well worth it.

Like I said, it would be 105 in the valley and she would take that car instead of the 1998 mustang that had air. I will find some pics to post up....

I told her we should put a ls1 in and she said NOWAY! It has got to be Ford and she wants to keep it carb'd. Later on I will do a 331 or a 351w.....with a AOD. I want it to be quick but not too fast.
