'57 Chevy LSX Convertible
Started dropping by here a few weeks ago, so I thought I might stay a while.
You don't see too many '57 Convertible Street Rods as most end up as Stock Restoreds, but this one will be far from it. Stroked LSX/L92-440ci with a T-56, ridetech air ride all around with their 4-Link AirBar in the rear. Currey 9-inch, Wilwoods and Budnik wheels. It's a 1 year project on year 7, but I'm gettin' there...
Here's what I drug home May 2002

Took about a month and started disassembly

Pretty much the entire bottom of the car has been replaced.

Most of the major body work complete, up on the rotisserie and the frame on dollies waiting on it's turn.

One of the several "joining parties" of getting the body back on the frame to check things... here was firewall check with an LS1/T56 installed. Had issues with firewall clearance.

Out comes the firewall...

In goes a new recessed firewall where I was customizing it to somewhat follow the contours of the LS motor. Dropping it lower and doing adding 45' corners.

Frame had quite a few modifications, here it is just back from paint and starting assembly. Can't really see it from here, but the Brake/Fuel/Air/Air Sensor wiring/battery cables are all running inside the framerails and front crossmember, so there's very little plumbing showing.

Promised my two boys they would get the first ride, here the promise is fulfilled...

This past weekend, the big day... they meet separately for the last time.

Here's where we're at today....

With a little luck, it's headed to the paint shop next week. One thing I'm most happy about... is after 7 years, the GD trunk lid is finally closed!
