      Time Attack Mustangs

Ok, so that "other" post I made in here the other day about mixing japanese flush style with pro-touring cars got a lot of flack. It's cool. I respect you Pro-Touring guys and your hard driving cars and style.

Here's two Mustangs that are really up my alley! Time Attack is probably the second biggest up and coming motorsport in the amatuer racing world and Willow Springs had a Redline Time Attack event that was covered by Speedhunters.com in this post they made today: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009...w-springs.aspx

I saw these 2 Mustangs (Fox Bodies) that make me drool and inspire me to build that 60's street road racer style car and thought I'd share them over here (no stretch and poke).

      K, rip me a new one in t minus 3, 2, 1 GO!!!

      Chris

the first one is cool... but I need to see some numbers to prove the wing does something on the second... ugh big wings irritate me...

The blue one is bitchin. Wing on the second is a little fugly, but if it's functional, then to each his own.

the wing on the gray one is too much. and there looks to be excessive front camber on the blue one

These I can do. Having owned a fax body I know there are very fun little cars with a lot of easy upgrades to made them handle. Function over form. It fits in my book.

      I prefer real race cars.

...and if you are talking Mustang Race Cars, there's none faster than this AIX machine:

...and now Ernesto has an 800hp turbo mill....nuckin futs!

      Big wing.....mandatory.

Time attack is huge in Japan and leads many of their top car builders to create some of the baddest race cars I have ever seen. Its all about the fastest lap at the end of the day. Trying to beat the course record etc...

Google it and look for images of the cars. You guys may not like the look but they are often the essence of function over form. I saw a tuner mag at the store the other day that I just had to read when I saw the cover car. I guy in japan had built and entire Mazda Rx-7 body out of carbon fiber for weight savings and to cover the extreme width wheels.

I don't know how else to describe it. The entire movement behind the event seems to be making a lot of race shops push the edges of technology and performance ahead.

Time Attack or its also called Lap Battle is cars built for the fastest 1 lap. Super sticky tires, crazy aero, super lightweight, engines on the edge, etc. There's various classes, so that crazy stuff is left for the Unlimited Classes, but there are street cars like these two Mustangs. Those Wings are functional, no doubt. I personally like the smooth trunk look, but for the track, its all good.

The Redline Time Attack event at Willow Springs even had this Firebird in the pits. Nice Vintage Trans Am style.

its not like the classics are rarely at any of these events.. they do make a showing..

the SCCA ,Vintage trans am has TONS of them.. and it has nothing to do with the japanese racing stuff.. basically its similar to the time attack events but a diffrent name.
