      Monza Spyder, first-car project.

Got an 1978 Chevrolet Monza Spyder.
I thought it would be fun to put it here and look back at the progress when it's done

The car needs some love, need new paint, wheels and some new quarters, Damn rust.

The engine when i got it:

      After some elbowgrease:

      The car:

      And the damage...

I guess this project will go slow, don't got any economy on my own yet, but i'll save cash and buy new parts

      Going to be fun!

      Looks like a good start.
Whatever you do, don't toss those accessory brackets you removed. They're scarce as hen's tits. Somebody out there is desperately wanting them.

      I miss mine.

If you haven't done so already check out H-body.org. There is alot of good info. and useful parts. Like balljoint adp. to allow the use of S-10 spindels which are an upgrade in braking, but also allow for big break kits. How under braked is the V-8 Monza? Years ago when they were new (79 model 305 powered) was test by Road & Track as part of there brake test. They did 6 60 to 0 runs back to back on the last run braking distance was over 200' and the plastic hub caps melted and drop off the frt. wheels. This along with swaping the rear axel from an S-10 2wheel drive also gets you 5 lug set up. One last bit of about the rear axel, since yours is a V-8 car the center section can use the same internals as a late (3rd& 4th gen) F-bodies gears and posies (spell?). O.K. last thing the motor mounts which are unique to the chassis can be remaned, info on the site. Well I'll shutup now.

      350. It's super cheap to buy a running 350. Around here they go for $300. Throw a mild cam in it and goooooooo!

What about a 350 with around 450 Bhp in a Monza? Sounds dangerous? :D

Ok, designed some ideas for the dash. It's almost the same, just moving warning light's (not added yet) and new Gauges.
(They are made in Paint, so ain't 100% i guess)

      Stock Dash:

      The basic design:

      And here with colors:

Which one should I go with? Car is getting repainted in new shiny black.
