572 Block?

Right now I just bought a 454 block with a 4 bolt main for $375. Basically to make it a 454 I need to get the 454 rotating assembly to make it a 454, can I make a 572 with this block. My friend said I need a 502 block or something like that and I was looking and GM performance parts and I'm pretty sure they use the same block I'm using with a 572 stroker kit? Am I right or wrong if so, what block do I need in order to get the stroker kit to make a 572! Thanks!!

The fartherst you can stroke a 454 is to 496, with a stroker kit,

You need a 502 block for anything else, 540

I forgot about the tall deck blocks, put the cam higher for larger crank,

You need a tall deck block for the 572. The deck height of these blocks is almost a half inch higher than the standard block.

The 454 , 502 , and 572 block are different.

454 production blocks have a 4.250"-4.310" bore range / 4.25"max stroke and 9.800" deck height.
502 production blocks have a 4.470"-4.500" bore range / 4.25" max stroke and 9.800" deck height.
572 production blocks have a 4.560"-4.600" bore range / 4.50" max stroke and 10.200" deck height.

So , it's kinda hard to get that many cubes out of a 454 or 502 block because the blocks are not physically large enough.
