GM LSx controller kit - see it here

Heres whats included in GM Performance LSx controller kit

      http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/Pa...roller_Kit.jsp

So far i am really pleased with the kit. Everything is clearly marked and well packed. The fuse/relay box could be smaller since i plan installing it under dash. Its quite bulky. Something i think was a lot better in Speartechs system. Missing from the pic are clear and easy instructions.

      These comes with the kit:

      Engine Harness
      Mass Air Flow Meter
Mass Air Flow Meter Mounting Boss
      Accelerator Pedal Assembly
      Oxygen Sensor (2) Per Kit)
      Oxygen Sensor Mounting Boss (2)
      Instruction Sheet

I bought mine from forum member Jeff Tate !!

Jeff got me a good price , excellent customer service and he did found all the answers for my wierd questions.

      Thank you again Jeff!!

I've got the exact same kit and when you mean that you have clear and easy instructions, I would like a copy, cause the instructions I have are very minimal (in my opinion).

Thats the reason i say they are clear and easy. No need to read 1000 page thick manual...;)

      Thanks Joni !
I'm glad you like the kit.
Let me know how it works !
I just got back from working the GM Performance Parts display at the World Of Wheels car show in Atlanta , Georgia.
I must have talked to one hundred people about the LS Controler Kits.
There seems to be a lot of interest in these products.

I have one in my GTO. Works well. I would recommend ditching that godawful pedal and get a pedal from a 2007 Monte Carlo SS. I am sure Jeff can help with that as well. It should be less than $50.

Considering that the power center will handle fan(s), pump(s), engine power and accy's, plus it has a ton of expansion capability, it's really not all that large. And for the price it's a great bargain in the long run.

And if you want to run a throttle by cable can it do that as well?

      Looks like a good option.

      Nice.

Hey Jeff, what's the damage on that setup?

...and can a guy substitute the Monte Carlo pedal?

I thought I recalled reading in a "hot parts" thing in one of the major mags that it could.

No can do. I had a conversation with John at Speartech a while back. He said that all LSx engines that use a 58 tooth reluctor wheel must use the DBW.

Given the cost of a 90mm cable operated throttle body vs. the DBW throttle body that come with most used setups or crate engines, the DBW is far less expensive and easier to install. I have not yet looked into it but I may, if the TB is big enough, try to swap in a C5 DBW into mine in order to have better pedal placement and tuneability.

Very little info on these controllers. Looks like a stock kit and one for the 480 HP crate motors? What is the difference between the three controller part numbers? If I did one and later did a cam swap or something similar can the ECM be tuned with HP tuners? Maybe it is just a matter of getting a VIN into it and then it is game on? if you knew you were going to retune and didn't care about the preprogrammed tune does it even matter which kit you got?

does this mean any aftermarket 58x kit must use dbw? or is this only for the gm controller?

EFIlive just made things easier, you now can tune them using EFIlive as they sit without having a VIN installed into the computer. We discussed this and it has now been confirmed with EFIlive that it is possible. HPtuners is beta testing the same compatibility, but it is not in place yet and you do have to get a VIN put into the ECU to tune it.

It seems like the best option right now if you want a standalone computer, especially now that these companies are giving you the option to tune them with more ease.
