69 camaro LS headers suggestions needed

looking for headers for an ls swap in my 69 camaro. my car sits low so ground clearance is a concern. I was looking at a set of dough thorley long tube ls headers for 1st gen camaro $600 jet coated, and i have been considering S&P's short/mid tube headers at around the same price coated.

need to know what you guys think including prices for headers you guys are using and like. also long tube or short tube, regardless of vendor which is better?

It really depends on where your engine is located (which mounts you use). I have a set of Stainless Works headers that don't sit any lower than the sub-frame and are built really nice. My engine is a little further forward than some others though.

Another vote for Stainless Works. We sell and install them, never a problem. Nothing quite like stainless.

We here at Edelbrock have an affordable line of swap headers and engine adaptor plates for the F,A, and X body GM cars that you might want to consider. When the headers were designed, ground clearence was one of the big considerations.

      1967-1969 F-Body and 1968-1974 X-body Headers #65043 Engine Plates #6706. I would check out dealers for pricing.

I read a post some where that another 1966 A-Body has issues clearing the starter and bellhousing on a LSx with T56 manual trans. I know a couple A-body guys that are running 4L60e without issues.

Since the headers bolt to the block and the trans does as well I can asume that engine mounting plates would have no bearing in this issue. Can you comment on the fitment based on an LS3 crate engine and a T56 with stock bellhousing sourced from a 2002 Camaro.

I'll see if I can loacte the tread that refers to the fitment issue.
EDIT: Found the thread. (NOT ON THIS BOARD, SORRY. Hope this doesn't violate any rules)
