      Build on hold. Damn

The new car auto market and the problems with the big three has now reached out and touched my life pretty hard. I work at a lead and zinc mine and because of decreased demand for these metals or parent company gave us a nice Christmas present in the news that our mine will shut down and it will be here in about a month and a half.

As one would guess the first words out of the wifes mouth, "call that body shop and tell them to stop all work". And she's right. It can wait till life comes back around sometime. O, ya another kick in the pants is she works at the same mine, ouch.

I had just been at the shop a couple days before and got a couple update pics. So these are a compilation of some past build stuff and probably the last update photos for a while.

Hate to hear that. The lead industry in southeast Missouri has been hit hard too. Yesterday they laid off 200+ people. It's hard to recover with such a drastic drop in lead prices.

Keep your head up, things will turn around. Nice build BTW.

Darrin, Yes, I had a 67-68 dash put in it. I really like the looks of them better than the 69 Camaro or Firebirds dash. And since this car seems to be about changing to what I like the looks of I thought why not. Still have to work on the instrument cluster carrier and that area for compatability adjustments but it is do-able and relatively easy.

Nice ride and good luck. Is there anyway you could put the glass and stuff in so you could still cruise it around? It is so close.

sorry to hear that, things will turn around. It really amazes me what so many are doing on here with the economy the way it is. I certainly hope it turns around soon.

Very nice looking car, I dig the green. Almost the same color as my wagon.

Not really all a project update but a life update, also.

Things are looking better. I was selected for a job inside the company and will be heading north to Alaska back to Gold mining. In todays economy any job you have you should be thankful for, thats what I tell myself now that I will have to spend 28 days straight away from the family. And working 12 hour shifts for those 28 straight days. I am extremely happy to be employed. The wife still is being laid off but we'll scrape by now. Maybe even get to work on my project a bit. 14 days off after the 28 is good, just won't have any $ left after the expensive plane tickets each rotation.

Spending 28 days in a prison type setting (but with excellent food) means unfortunantly you might hear my comments more here in the forum.

Almost have my Airbar in just had to come up with a cheap magnetic angle finder. Got one at Harbor Freight.

You've got to fund your own travel there and back? That sucks... I might be looking to see if I can extend the duration (56 days on/30 off) or staying local every other off cycle just to save the travel expenses.
