And if you would want to do a chamfer you would type B, minus and your figure... B-0.500

Some machines will also read CHF=0.500 and RND=0.500 for radius

      um guys...

If this machine came from a factory... you better check the voltage and Phase of the power.. if this is a 3 Phase machine... you may not have this available in your area. I'd hate to see ya move in a big machine and then realize ya cant even turn it on!
Any one can lurn to run a machine... but a vocational school is a big jump start.

I would like to think he looked into that already, but who knows. I had hoped to clean up the garage and get it in there, but he keeps insisting he wants to put it in the shed we have. But the shed has no power.

I spent all Sat. last week, and most of Fri. this week fabricating some large shelving to store some things and give us more floor space so that hopefully the lathe will fit, but the more I talk to him the more I think he is only interested in storing it for me until I can afford my own place. But that will be a few years from now when I'm further along with my apprenticeship.

So I finally got to see the lathe. It's a bit smaller than I thought it would be. It's manual. Definitely will need some cleaning up. It's probably going to be a good learning/starter unit, but nothing special.

Actually a Craftsman lathe. I didn't even know they made them.

This is as close a picture as I could find on the net. It's close enough without having actual pictures:
